University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

@allieb128 If you have a decision yet, there will be a button that says “see admission decision”

I feel like I’m qualified but less qualified than a lot of the deferred. I feel the same about my acceptance to Georgetown (though that one was more surprising to me). Happy to have been accepted and good luck to all deferred in RD!

Deferred - 2310 SAT, NMSF, 800 Math 2, 750 Physics, 740 Bio E, 4.0 UW, 8APs+ 4APs this year, 1/500 - 4 years varsity athlete and captain for 2 years, summer research at top university; +more EC; Applied to COE OOS - Cali

@allefficace honors email will come later. Mine came a few days after acceptance.

is the “view decision” button under “application status” or is it there under admissions in the prospective student portal?

Haven’t gotten changes on portal or an email. Seems like people with GREAT credentials are all getting deferred—I guess it’s that they want to reserve the spots for people who would actually go there. Sucks because UM is one of my top choices.

Also @UMParent2015 do you recommend I contact the admissions office and if so, what do I say?

@michaelscarn23 it’s right by application details and stuff

is it possible we dont even hear today?!

@allieb12 yes, they have until xmas eve to tell people

Michigan really takes interest into account. If you don’t seem all that interested in Michigan on your app, they’re a lot less likely to accept you, even if you have really high stats. They’re looking for a high yield to assert themselves as a public ivy.

@tbhbulls I’m no expert but a letter expressing to the admissions office that you are disappointed by the deferral but still very interested in Michigan and would accept should they admit you cannot hurt. Also, if your grades this semester were good or you have any additional achievements to add to your file that were not included in the original application then send them as well.

@jcampion LSA. Seriously I see so people with like 30 ACTs being accepted and it just makes me feel so awful about myself.

@mjk545 THIS^^^ I showed so much interest to Michigan, I emailed them a lot (probably annoying them), raved about them in the essay (not just a copy and paste essay), and did a campus tour. And I got in

looking like will not hear today, no portal change, no email

anyone hear back from nursing school?

@emilyskates We get it, you’re a condescending, entitled brat who didn’t get in. Stop acting as if people who scored a 30 on their ACTs are less qualified than you. There’s no need to post 5+ times about it.

If we haven’t heard does anyone know what this means for our chances of getting in?

anyone think deferrals ultimately mean denial?

@emilyskates hey, I’m one of those 30 ACT’s kids. Honestly don’t feel awful about it. I showed an extreme amount of interest for Michigan (visited, emailed, huge legacy), and I don’t know your stats but if you’re deferred you’ll probably get in just at a later time. They just want to know if you’re serious or not about the school. My sister (accepted 2011) said almost everyone she knew that got deferred got in in like January.
