Sushiritto, My daughter’s deferral requested a 250-word essay. Are some deferrals without the essay requirement? If so, is one more likely to get in than another?

My son admitted to LSA OOS (Illinois).
4.0u/ 4.7w GPA; 1550 SAT, 6 APs (all 5s) plus 5 more this year; state and national academic awards, lots of ECs and volunteer service.

Where does it tell your daughter to write an essay? Is it on the portal or did they email you?

Same question. We didn’t see the request for LOCI.

Excellent question! I believe the deferral essay appeared for the 1st time last year. I’m not sure, but I believe everyone gets the same option.

Does anyone know if they defer a lot of kids, or just deny the majority?

I think notifications come out in batches. From 3pm today through tomorrow.
