University of Michigan Early Action Class of 2019 Discussion

I am the only person who applied for UMichigan

It is very common for a lot of people to get deferred. Most of the people I know who go there now were deferred and got in later, and all of them were very well-qualified (30+ ACTs, 4.0’s, etc). So don’t worry if you get deferred.

How many people are admitted usually for early action?

I’m not sure, but I know it isn’t too good. They’re getting more and more applications, and it’s hard to determine a full acceptance rate because its rumored that they don’t even get to all the applications and just defer a ton of people. At least thats what was said last year by people on here. I don’t know if Umich has put out stats for early action ever. It would kind of be everyones own estimates

I’m so ready for this.

Really hoping decisions come out on Thursday! The wait is killing me and I have finals Wednesday - Friday this week! 8-|

@carlsandburgsr‌ very very unlikely they come out on thursday, they have too many applications to finish i would guess

@Prodigee‌ It’s cause finals go until friday. There’s no way they will release decisions on thursday because of that.

Does anyone know how accurate parchment is with their % chance they give students on getting into a college? They gave me a 78% chance of getting in but I didn’t think I’d be that high.

@joej7237‌ totally inaccurate, it bases it off of people who posted on there which is probably only a few

@joej7237‌ parchment is useless

good luck to everyone

At my school, we send a lot of kids to UMich because we are one of the top feeder schools in SE Michigan. If you have at least a 3.85 and 28, you’re in (sometimes deferred at first, but ultimately accepted). Being a girl is a big advantage too. I’ve seen a lot of guys get deferred with better stats/ECs over the girls with lower credentials. Regardless, I’m still so nervous! I don’t want to get deferred and have to wait and worry even more!

Is the wolverine page supposed to be down? I can still access mine, am I the only one?

@gilmoregirl97 no, your not the only one, I can still access mine. In fact, I could access mine yesterday too, which was weird because they were supposedly down for maintenance.

They were only down for a half hour

@class0f15 Any idea how a person with low GPA (3.62) but higher ACT (32) would fare? I took the hardest course load offered in my school if that helps. I’ve seen people say that UMich doesn’t really care about course load and values GPA more though :frowning: Losing hope…

For those who see the Business Admin Application on WA, when you click on LSA, does it still say LSA Undeclared?

Best of luck to all of you! I would expect the decisions to be coming out very shortly. Most likely Friday. Please note that the University did receive an increase in EA applications. I am a student working at the admissions office, and I overheard the number 27,000 by one of the admissions officers. The university did mention publicly that they would be cutting back on accepting students and instead using a wait list to better control the size of the freshman class. From what I know, it looks like there will be more deferrals than usual. Good luck! Stay sane! and Go Blue!

@michan whatever you heard is a bunch of bologna lol. UMich cares about course load for sure. If you are taking the hardest classes your school offers then that’s impressive. If you showed your strong interest and put effort in your essays/recommendations, then I don’t think you should worry too much.
