Hi guys. I’ve submitted my application approximately a week ago (1/31) but still waiting for the email from UMich for further information. Anybody still waiting for the wolverine username?
BTW can anybody please chance me?

@AlisonJ When I applied last fall I submitted my application pretty close to the deadline as well but I just checked and I still got my wolverine access information pretty quickly. I’d wait maybe another day and then think about giving them a call. It also may take longer since you’re an international student. Although all your stats look really good I’d say you’ve got a good shot.
Hey guys, I wanted to know that if it says there is nothing in the ‘Other Required Application Materials’ section of Wolverine access, do they have my transcripts? Because I accidently resent them. Also for the second semester courses list, how did you guys send that out?
@AlisonJ yeah your chances are really good haha. They don’t care about SAT scores for juniors. Mine was 1800 and I was accepted last week
@historyrepeat Thx. I just received the email
@cassidylynnn Thx and Congrats!
@Tim1995det it depends really. If you sent your transcripts before you submitted your common app it won’t have anything under other required material and they may already have everything they need. When you filled out your common app it should’ve had a spot to put in your second semester classes. Now I know the first time I applied when I first got my wolverine access it didn’t have anything under other required material but it was later updated to say they still needed my transcript. You may want to call admissions and have them tell you if they have everything they need or if you’re missing something.
Does anyone know what financial aid is like at Michigan for OOS transfers? Now I know that everyone’s idea of “good” is different. My parents’ adjusted gross income is around $124k and we live in Orange County, CA so that doesn’t get us very far haha. We have no assets though and my sister is going to be a freshman in college next year. Right now at my current school, it costs $64k to attend and I have a $27k grant, $5500k student loan and my parents take out $32k in parent plus loans every year (consigned by my grandma who has near perfect credit). They are willing to take out up to $32k in a parent plus loan for Michigan if necessary but that’s the absolute maximum amount that they’re willing to take out. Its $62k to attend but I’m transferring my Alpha Delta Pi sorority membership to Michigan’s chapter and will most likely live in the sorority house which costs 50% less than on campus housing so it will be more like $56k or $57k to attend. The office of financial aid said that living on or off campus will not affect my financial aid award so what do you guys think? Is the net price calculator usually accurate? According to that calculator, it says I should get about $20k in grants/scholarships, $8k student loan and the rest my parents would pay with a parent loan; I subtracted about $6-7k from that cost though because we will be saving that much money from the sorority housing. P.S. I know some people think my parents are crazy for being in this much debt but they believe that it’s worth it and want me to have the opportunities that they never had growing up. Thanks!
@Tim1995det I was wondering about that list of second semester courses too, and I knew the Common App already had a section for them, but I wasn’t sure in the email if they wanted a separate list of the courses, so I contacted the Call Center, and they just recommended that I email my UMich counselor the courses. She then added them to my application.
Hi ,
i attend a state college in Ohio ,applied to Umich
College GPA:3.872 with 54 credits
Made a huge mistake, i wrongly applied for computer science in engineering on common app but it was supposed to be LSA ,since all my essays were about LSA and how i can double major in humanities with computer science.
Please is all hope lost ?
@racaa4 you can call admissions and change it or possibly email your admissions advisor about it
@Tim1995det I don’t know about you, but on my official college transcript, it actually lists my courses that I have selected for second semester. If your school does the same, then I would assume they would go off of what it says on your transcript rather than what you put on the common app. What I put on the common app ended up being different than what I actually ended up taking, but because my official transcript listed what classes I was currently enrolled in for second semester, I didn’t have to send anything else. Next to the courses, it just says IP instead of a letter grade obviously because they’re courses that are in progress.
@ historyrepeat i sent an email to ecredential@umich.edu since last week and it has not been updated
Please how do i get hold of an admissions advisor?
@racaa4 Here’s the link you need to contact a transfer admissions counselor: https://admissions.umich.edu/contact-us.
Just scroll down and open the options and then find the counselor assigned to you!
Thank you
Denied this morning. Sent in my app the last week of January.
College credits: Took 16 first semester (only 12 transfer) and am currently taking 20 transferrable credits this semester. I decided to take 20 in order to increase my chances, but obviously that didn’t work.
College gpa: 3.82
EC’S:
-leadership position in a club
-finance and accounting internship
-200+ community service hours high school
-a lot of soccer accomplishments from high school
LOR’S:
-two incredible LOR’s from professors. One recommended me to be a paid note taker and the other I worked with very closely throughout the semester.
Essay’s:
-I thought they were awesome. I worked on them a lot with one of my professors.
I’m honestly really bummed out but am going to re-apply for the winter. I kind of expected this as I don’t have junior standing. Best of luck to everyone else.
Chance me?
I am currently a freshman at Michigan State University who applied to transfer to LSA for English.
At MSU, I major in theatre so I have very few transferrable credits and would start as a freshman with credit.
I was deferred from LSA last year, then later denied.
GPA;
MSU- 3.9 with 13 credits Fall '16
HS- 3.5
ACT- 27
EC’S:
Undergraduate Hearing Board
Theatre
Member of Gay-Straight Alliance
LOR:
Honors Humanities teacher from high school, high school counselor, dance professor
Essays:
Well written, revised with English professor’s help
Thanks!
@KevinPriceBoM your GPA looks great, but because you have such little credits completed, they will focus on your high school record, and please bear with me here I’m not trying to be snobby (my hs record wasn’t up to par with Michigan’s standards either), but your high school record isn’t exactly in line with what most accepted high school students have going into U of M. Worse case scenario, if you aren’t accepted this year, wait until next year to apply! Best time to apply would be to send in your app when you are a sophomore at MSU so that you would be an incoming junior with 50-60 transferable credits cause they put a lot of emphasis on that! I’ve only applied this one time but I just know that based on what they say on their website, they really prioritize their junior transfers. Best of luck though!
Does anyone know about the pharmaceutical science major? Is it a competitive major? Would it be easier to get in as chemical science than pharmaceutical science major?
I have a 3.71 gpa and will be completed with total 65 credits at the of this semester.
@schoolgirl98 I’m sorry to hear that. But if you’re still interested in Michigan I really recommend applying again. You can even roll over your application for the winter term so you don’t need to write new essays or get new letters of recommendation. All you need to do is send in your updated transcript and your current course selections. I was denied twice before this is my third time applying, I’ve had a 4.0 the entire time but they really want junior standing. Also if you don’t mind me asking do you know when your app was marked complete?
@KevinPriceBoM I’d have to agree with @cassidylynnn your stats are great except they may want more credit hours. Like I said before though if you’re denied just roll over your application it’s very easy and all you gotta do is send in another transcript. But I still think you have a chance because even if your high school GPA isn’t “michigan standard” (trust me mine is far lower than yours) your college GPA may help make up for it.
@happy6523 don’t quote me on this but I swear someone told me before that they don’t really consider your preferred major when reviewing your application, so one major shouldn’t have a better shot of acceptance than another.
