University of Michigan Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

@KeepPerspective I’ve seen on threads from past years that you actually have to call the Admissions Office to find out if your application is complete

@lolowowo Thank you! I checked my application status first and there was a new link that said “Check Decision” right next to the “credentials” link, I also received an email later that night. Good luck, hope you get in too!

@samzhushunwei thank you!!! Hopefully you receive some good news soon

@jk9801 BTW, I am wondering if u are an OOS international student? I got a GPA of 3.7 in college with 63 credits but since I am an Asian and international and OOS student, I am not sure if I really have a big chance to be admitted.

@samzhushunwei You are in the range. Just hope for the best. I know many asian students transferred from OOS CC to UMich in the past with stat like you.

@jk9801 It surprises me that you heard back so early. I’ve spoken with two admissions counselors about decision dates and they both said to expect anywhere from 6-8 weeks after the application deadline. Then just today, I was talking with somebody who said that one of their friends was accepted 3 days ago, but he was also going in as a Psych major. Congrats!

@billcsho thanks! I am currently studying at the State university of New Jersey. Perhaps I checked the application status more than 30 times a day… Hope I can get in!

@samzhushunwei No I’m not international, but from what I’ve read from previous threads international students with around the same stats as yours tend to get admitted, so I think you’ve got a pretty good shot.

@ArmenHammer Thanks! I couldn’t imagine waiting 6-8 weeks when some people this year and previous years heard back within only 8-10 days! Granted those were mostly in-state applicants but I still started obsessively checking my status screen a couple days after my app was complete

Anyone applying COE and got decision yet?

@lhy2008 hey, I saw some previous posts saying that COE applicant usually receive transfer decision around the end of March. I am an LSA applicant so I do not know too much about COE. It is true that COE are harder to get in, comparing that of with LSA. But I think you’ve got a great shot. You GPA is perfect and you are a ICC student. No worries then. Hope both of us can get in.

So how is everyone else dealing with the stress and anxiety of waiting for a decision? I feel like I’m constantly checking Wolverine Access and my email. I really have no clue how I can wait for another few weeks #-o

@kmwumich So do I !!! I checked my WA more than 30 times a day.

@samzhushunwei the wait is slowly driving me crazy!!

Just got accepted. I submitted my application on the 30th of January.

Just got accepted to LSA!!! But it says my major is undeclared even though I put computer science in the common app and talked about my desire to do software engineering/computer science extensively. Does anyone know how this works? Like will I just have to declare computer science when I get enough credits or is there like a GPA minimum I have to reach and certain courses to be ‘accepted’? I’m a little nervous about my decision

@transfer28743 congrats!!! yes, its okay if it says “undeclared” that’s just how their application works. they know that if you enroll you will be majoring in computer science. don’t be alarmed that it says undeclared because that’s what it says on everyones app. also question, when did you submit your app and when/where did it say it was complete?

@transfer28743 @michfan221 congratulations!! If you don’t mind me asking, what was your GPA and how many credits do you have?

@transfer28743 Congratulations! If you don’t mind me asking, are you entering with sophomore or junior standing? I’m wondering if it’s possible that decisions are released earlier for those with 45-60 credits.

Thank you for your responses! That makes a lot more sense. I had a GPA of 3.88 and will have 80 credits, so junior standing. Although CS-wise since I just switched my major I’m only going to be up to Data Structures, so not sure how that works. I submitted my app Jan 28th? Sometime around there.
