University of Michigan Waitlist 2024

Did he accept?

Did she accept? How many did they take?

@dynarski Twitter has interesting insights. Featured in NYT

Yes- my daughter did. We are in-state.

Looks like nothing today?!?..ugh

Really weird

its already mid-june

@Maduka

Timing for waitlists may be pushed back into July and August due to University’s announcement for fall semester which is expected at end of June, among other things.

If Michigan state any indication fall will be online/hybrid and in-class. As a parent on their Facebook lots of parents indicating they are pulling their kids out of MSU. Things are still not clear to waitlist will stay but I think more domestic will get off then international as US embassies still not open and with time appointments will be a long wait

Where exactly do you go if you pull out of MSU in June/July?

Looking at the Covid case update, the State of Michigan appears to be doing quite well.

My D18 is headed back there from CA in August.

Does anyone know if there is a similar forum like this in Reddit?

@michstudent101 don’t get too ahead of yourself. The chances of getting off the waiting list is slim. However, if you do end up pulling out of MSU, you should contact the admission office and the housing department (if you signed the housing contract)

@L1LSwag I haven’t seen any forums like this on Reddit

@FootballGuy21 i think he’s saying where do the students go after parents pull them out of MSU because of hybrid classes

ohhh

Gap year, Community College, Wayne State or Oakland University to name a few.

Is there gonna be another wave for COE? Or that’s just it?

All waves are over. I know no one wants to hear that. There might be some trickles here and there.

You can email /call admissions and see if they are still accepting students in Coe. Yes, soon some will decide not to go or take a gap year. It’s a very strange year. But waves… No.

Good luck.

No offense, but how do you know that all waves are over? Do you get any information from the admission office? I’m just really curious.

4 years or so helping answer questions and a kid that goes there and following the trends on the Michigan threads among others. What your calling waves are pretty much preset admission dates. At this point they already had those. In June /July you get some trickles of acceptances. This year will be different of course due to Covid but really doubt that a typical few thousand students will be accepted as is usual in a “wave”.

All media reports from Michigan also stated they over enrolled, most likely on purpose, to make up for losing international and summer melt and now Covid melt. You will hear something soon from Michigan about the fall. Yes, kids will decide not to go. But they have to go through the approximate 350 students over enrolled or so before hitting the waitlists
This might not be true in some segments like STMD.

The numbers for admissions from around 6900-7100 is a good number for them for a freshman class. Think I read they were shooting for 7200 this year with expected losses added in.
I have also helped many families with college admissions.
