University of Minnesota Ranking/Reputation

Hi everyone!

I received the Golden Gopher Application and I just began researching about the University.
Can you tell me about the schools reputation/ranking?

Thanks, God Bless

bboy219 here is the 2015 ranking from US News & World Report. http://premium.usnews.com/best-colleges/university-of-minnesota-3969

Within the U of Mn there are several colleges and it’s quite possible to be admitted but not to the first college of your choice. Here is the academic profile by college: <a href=“Academic Profile of Fall 2022 Admitted Freshman Applicants by College | Office of Admissions”>http://admissions.tc.umn.edu/academics/profile.html

You’ll see that the most selective colleges include CSE and CSB.

All that being said, it’s one of the easier applications you’ll be filling out. No letter of rec. or essay required. Also, it’s one of the more selective universities in the lower 50 range of the top 100 (per US News). In previous years the Golden Gopher ap. waived the fee for some OOS applicants - not sure what they are doing this year (we are MN residents).

Admissions are on a rolling basis so if you apply definitely do so well before the Dec. 15 priority deadline. My D’s HS counselor told us that the acceptance rate goes way down after that date. Also, the earlier you apply, the earlier you may hear back. The admissions office says it will begin notifying applicants on a rolling basis beginning in November; in previous years people on CC have reported that their status is known as early as mid-October or so.

Good luck with your research and with your application.
