University of Oregon (UO) Early Action for Fall 2022 Admission

Thanks. I did see the portal say business. Was not sure what it said before.

Anyone get an email re a webinar called Get Your Ducks in a Row: Honors College and Top Scholar Opportunities for 12/14? Any idea what it is?

what is the maximum summit award you can get? seems like for OOS students it is still expensive even after the award.

According to a poster above, the $10k/year Summit is automatically given to applicants exceeding a certain GPA or something.

I am hopeful that additional merit scholarships might still be offered to students after they have done a more discretionary review.

That said, my D22 is interested in the 3+1 accounting program, which makes the cost more affordable for those planning to get a Master’s anyway.

Scholarship information is here:

Just checked and my D got it too. I’m hoping it signals acceptance to honors college. I think they are supposed to find out by Dec. 15. Did your child apply to honors?

My child got the email, but did not apply to honors. She did receive special direct admission to Lundquist (b-school).

I think the email probably went out to all Summit recipients (and comparable in-state scholarship recipients).

Yes, S applied to honors.

Yes - received. No - idea what this is.

My son received the admissions acceptance along with apex scholarship end of Oct/early Nov. We are out of state.

Submitted application - Oct 19 (didnt apply to Honors)
Accepted as Pre-Business - Oct 22
Submitted Stamps Scholarship - Oct 30
Awarded Summit Scholarship - November 17
Accepted as direct admit to the Lundquist College of Business - Dec 1
Mail inviting me to the Get Your Ducks in a Row: Honors College and Top Scholar Opportunities webinar - Dec 2
Mail inviting me to attend the on campus Scholars Recognition Day - Dec 4

D22 also got the email inviting her to an on-campus scholars recognition day on Jan. 28. She also applied for the honors college and Stamps. I am going to go back to last year’s thread to make sure, but I think they interviewed Stamps finalists in January. To be clear, they did not say this was about Stamps. It said, in part: “As a high-achieving student, we invite you to attend Scholars Recognition Day (SRD), a full-day event hosted exclusively for exceptional students like you. This is our chance to honor you, your achievements, your superior work ethic, and your commitment to your education.”

Thanks @Goose15 for flagging this. Anyone else get this?

My D22 also received the invitation to Scholar’s Recognition Day. The tentative schedule if you hit the “learn more” tab looks like tours and info sessions. We just did a visit and general tour a few weeks ago, so she is not inclined to take another day off school to attend.

She did apply to Stamps, also, so if this were a Stamps thing, that would obviously be different.

What’s your sense on why they are doing this, given that the students are already admitted and have received initial merit based on grades? Do you think it’s just a way to encourage them to attend and nothing more?

From the UO website on the Stamps Scholarship page: “Selection to receive the Stamps Scholarship is highly competitive. The University of Oregon will interview semifinalists at the University of Oregon campus in late January. Finalists are then interviewed by the Stamps Scholars Program before final selections are made.”

It makes sense to combine Stamps interviews with the Top Scholars day, but I expect those invites will go to a subset of the Top Scholars in a separate contact. This day-long event is probably designed as marketing to the larger group.

My daughter got this email as well. She has not been admitted yet…much less a scholarship.

Well, getting the Top Scholar email looks like a good sign for your daughter, lol!

Maybe she was sorted into the email list if her GPA is over the automatic thresholds for Apex (3.7) or Summit (3.9) scholarships.

Ah, maybe.
