University of Oregon Waitlist class of 2019

If you are waitlisted for the class of 2019 post your journey here.

Received my waitlist notice in the mail today. I accepted the invitation to join the waitlist. Please post if you are waitlisted too.

Hi I was waitlisted too and I’m still waiting to hear from them. Have you heard back?

I still have not heard from UO. The wait continues.
brookeswallow, when did you apply and are you OOS? Applied for Early Advisory. Deferred in December and put on the Wait List March 31.

Boy do I have a journey with UO…

I applied for early admission in November, and in Mid December they stated I would have wait cause they needed more time… Okay… then came January, February, March, April, May… On May 1st I decided to commit to another college. I decided to accept the wait-list for UO for some reason even though I had my heart set on the college I committed to. Next thing I know today I checked my UO status and found out I was accepted. Also I received very good aid, better aid than the school I plan on going to, because of this my family and I are considering UO. I’m unsure what to do and am now making a pros and cons sheet.

Well done XLunaX! This is the mom writing! The kid applied in October. Deferred in early December. Sent first semester grades and letters of recommendation as requested by UO. Watched as friends with lower GPA and test scores accepted. Strung along until April 30 when the kid was Wait Listed. Called UO and inquired as to what was going on and was told “So many students from your school applied UO had to space out acceptances”. Kid goes to a small private school, only one student is going to UO. All others who were accepted are going elsewhere. UO was my kid’s realistic 1st choice, the kid knew they would not get into the dream school. In the mean time we visited schools the kid got in to. Loved a school we had not yet seen and committed there. Tougher school to get into with much higher requirements. The local public school has 30 kids going to UO next year. We just can’t figure it out. We flew to UO for a tour and attended three local events. We are still miffed. Kid says they still want to see if they can get in just for the satisfaction. OOS

The school I also committed to also had much higher standards and requirements. UO was not my first choice, but I still wanted to get in because I knew it would be affordable and I could still live on campus (I would pay Oregon tuition) I think notifications are sent by June 15th at the latest. I also saw people from my school get in with lower GPAs, the difference was they were just the B student all 4 years while I started out on the rocky road. I also visited UO but it was pouring raining and the tour guide seemed to not know what she was talking about. Also the dorms are very small and the undergraduate size is 20x bigger than the school I’m committed to. I really don’t understand how they accept students or what the criteria is, but I’m still unsure what to do. Guess I will take the week or so to figure it out cause my family will do either way. Good luck to your kid.

Accepted but not until Winter Term. Too little, too late.

That doesn’t make sense, why the winter term? is there a certain date you have to oblige? Cause if you decide you don’t like the school you’re going to you can always transfer to UO instead. They should understand that’s very inconvenient.

I have until 9/15 to respond. I also want to know where my Big Duck Acceptance Envelope is! I feel like a second class student. I want the same treatment as those accepted for Fall Term. I also learned that too many students applied from my zip code. Local students accepted with 2.5 GPA and conduct issues. My major is popular, Business! I should have applied as undeclared.

Right, U of O has a lot of people coming in for the sciences and business, you could request to be undeclared and take business prerequisites and apply to the business school (I forgot what year it was you apply for it). and see what happens. At least you have time to think about it, they only gave me around a week to decide if I wanted to attend and my whole family and teachers kept pressuring me to switch cause it was cheaper and other personal issues. But you shouldn’t be subjected to this treatment. Well whatever you do good luck.

XLunaX Did you decide on UO? I am a freshman and a proud Hoosier, Kelley School of Business.

I decided to go to UO, even though I swore I wouldn’t, but financial aid was a big part of my decision but now I’m rushed to do a lot of things, and congrats!

UO was my kids dream school. I have quadruplets who all applied in November 2014. One son heard right away - accepted - very high SAT’s. My other 3 did not hear until early March of 2015. They were thrilled, but it was shot lived! Being OOS, we did not get enough financial aid to make it happen. We would have had to pay almost $33k a piece to send them. XLunaX - good luck at UO ~ Go Ducks!
