IMHO - it’s a lot easier for grad schools to evaluate your GPA than it is to compare the rigor of your classes.

I’d suggest taking Honors classes only if you are truly that into the subject material. Do not take them in the hopes of increasing your chances of getting into grad schools - especially at the expense of your GPA. Also, consider that the amount of work/time required for Honors classes will take away from your other classes as well.

Congratulations @RFAtoIVY‌ and also @BlueRX on receiving the Helen Faison scholarship! That is a great opportunity to finish your undergraduate degree debtfree.

Here is a link to some info I found about Helen Faison.

Hey all! I’m a current applicant and I was offered admission, honors college, and the engineering graduate guarantee. I am an out of state student, so tuition is expensive. Pitt is my first choice school and I’m really terrified that I won’t be given a scholarship to attend. Is there any chance anyone can help me see if I’m likely to receive a scholarship? I was accepted in early September.

@ TV4caster my S (currently a soph) wants to major in Aerospace and would LOVE to go to Pitt but as far as we can tell they have MEMS but no specific Aerospace. If you know different can you share info…

@TV4caster‌ @Dnewman97‌ @cl3v3land‌ did you guys get a letter or an email first?

My D was accepted to UPitt on Wednesday (11/19). She received an email with a cool video. It said in the email the the letter was in the mail. We have not received the letter yet.

For acceptance? I got my letter in September and then the email a bit later. But with the new video thing they are doing I know some people are getting emails before letters. It all depends on where you live cause the letter could take a while to get to you.

@Psupitt02061997‌ Admissions said the letter was sent Thursday and I didn’t check the regular mail yesterday. The email came yesterday at 3:30 pm with the personalized video (very cool).

@Psupitt02061997‌ I got an email first, I still haven’t gotten a letter. I’m guessing it will come Monday.

Did anyone receive a large white envelope from admissions that did not contain a merit scholarship? I thought that’s what it was, but it jut contained a little brochure from student affairs…

@wwsjl23‌, yes we got one of those big white envelopes with a student affairs brochure last week. And yesterday we got another big white envelope from the Chancellor’s office with a brochure about some distinguished Pitt alumni.

I recieved the same envelope as well

I was awarded a $15,000 scholarship today and was invited to apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship. I saw many people with similar stats to me get the full tuition offer. Is it possible to somehow appeal this and send in supplemental information to receive more money? Sorry to sound so greedy

Yes its one of mine, I loved my visit there too

@Seth656, if you are invited you should certainly complete the application for the Chancellor’s Scholarship and see if you receive an award: http://cscholar.honorscollege.pitt.edu/index.html</a>. I would strongly encourage you to start there and see what happens.

Since the Committee has already reviewed your application, sending in extra supplemental information such as essays or resumes will not help with reconsideration for other merit aid. You have the option to write the Scholarship Committee and ask for reconsideration, but it would be best if you can also provide some new academic information, new SAT/ACT scores or mid-year grades.
