My daughter was accepted into the Arts and Sciences and also the Honors College and received the letter on 11/22. Her application was complete on 11/5. We kept looking for the email video everyday through her gmail but then she realized that she had originally given them a yahoo account (and then changed to her gmail) and we found the video at yahoomail after she got the letter. The email was from 11/20. The video is fantastic! She says she is definitely going to Pitt!

@marylandlegal Due to the competitiveness of the scholarships, some students go through two, sometimes three, reviews before a final decision is made. While some students find out about a scholarship quite early, possibly within three weeks of being admitted, many more do not find out until much later. Bottom line, those students selected to receive an award will find out no later than March 1st.

I’m looking to do a Nursing Major and thinking of applying to Pitt regular decision. Has anyone applied to Nursing at Pitt? I was wondering if I had any chance of getting in if these are my stats:
SATs November 2014:
CR- 550
Math- 580
Writing- 640
WEighted GPa- 4.1/5, UW approx 3.3/4
I go to a very good suburban Public School in Massachusetts

Any other suggestions for other schools with Nursing with my stats?

Do the 3 essays for regular undergrad admissions have any affect on an application to the guaranteed admissions program? Basically I just wanted to know if, after getting accepted to Pitt, GA admissions will look at these essays.

@kelican725 Your stats seem a little low for admission to Pitt main campus for nursing. Pitt Johnstown may be a more likely possibility, or Penn State Altoona or IUP (Indiana University of PA). My son was accepted to IUP’s nursing program with a similar unweighted GPA and lower SAT scores. Edinboro University of PA (which is offering low out-of-state tuition) may be another possibility, as well as several private colleges/universities near Pittsburgh. Do you have a limit regarding costs? Many of these schools have rolling admissions, so you should submit your applications as soon as possible if you are interested, as places in nursing programs tend to fill up fast.

Extremely happy to say that I received a full tuition scholarship from Pitt! I also was invited to apply for Chancellor’s full ride scholarship. I applied 9/25 and was accepted into the Swanson School of Engineering a few weeks after (not really sure when). The full tuition scholarship letter was dated 11/24. Pittsburgh was not at the top of my list, but my brother goes to school there and loves it, so I figured I should apply as a safety. This scholarship has definitely bumped it up on my list!

Here are my stats for anyone wondering:
OOS
ACT - 34 composite (English- 35, Math- 35, Science- 36, Reading- 30)
GPA 4.5/4.0 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
Class Rank 1/502
-Wrote my essay about owning my own online store and customer service.
-I also had my teacher submit a letter of recommendation. I have a feeling this really helped - he has written me great letters before for internships.
-I submitted a resume with my many extra curricular activities including NHS executive publicist, Student Council Treasurer, 2 time volleyball captain.

I plan to major in chemical engineering, and am working on my Chancellor’s scholarship application. A full ride would be awesome, but I am still very happy with full tuition.

hailtopitt1787; My son applied using the “Priority Status” application, he received acceptance letter in Sep. Couple of questions:

Letter said he is also accepted for Honor college and will receive a separate letter on Honor college - Till date we have not received any letter for Honor college acceptance

When will we know merit scholarship? His super score SAT/ACT is 1490 (CR & M). Recently got the invite to apply for Stamps Scholarship.

Is there any chance to get invitation for Chancellor’s Scholarship?

@Audrae, if you choose to submit answers to the supplemental questions, admissions will certainly take those optional materials into account when looking at your candidacy for guaranteed admissions, merit aid, etc.

Each guaranteed admissions program is a little different. For further information on the specific program of interest, you can check out this page: https://oafa.pitt.edu/who-fits-at-pitt/guaranteed-admissions-programs/

Students are not admitted into the Honors College, instead they are notified if they are eligible to enroll for classes. If your son was told he is eligible to enroll in honors classes, he should start receiving information on those programs and opportunities soon. In the meantime, you can get more information on the University Honors College eligibility and programs here: http://www.honorscollege.pitt.edu/

D received full tuition + Chancellor’s invite letter today. Also invited to Med-Gap. Stats similar to other full tuition applicants. Good day for her. @hailtopitt1787 - thanks again for all your help.

@FromMD when was the letter dated?

Congratulations! We are always happy to help.

@wwsj123 - Scholarship LTR is dated 11/24. Med-Gap invite came via email a few days ago.

@kidzncatz Do you kno of anywhere where I can find pitt johnstown’s nursing curriculum? I read in a different thread that their bsn is identical to the main campus, is that still true?

@kelican725 Yes, I think the curriculum is the same. The curriculum is available as a download on the Nursing page of the UPJ website (sorry, I don’t know how to send you a link, but if you have trouble finding it, let me know and I’ll get one of my teenagers to help me later today. They just left for school.)

Here is the overview of the Pitt-Johnstown Nursing program. There is a sidebar to the right that has a link for the curriculum.

@hailtopitt1787 Thanks from a very old, technologically-challenged mom!

@hailtopitt1787 Thanks for all the very useful answers. My son submitted his application & essays for the Chancellor’s Scholarship over the last weekend. I know it is still early, but for those who get invited for the interview, is there a timeframe the interviews are going to be scheduled?
