I applied with the special status application so there were boxes on the online application to type the essays. And also, if your stats are strong don’t worry about your acceptance, I’m sure you’ll get in!

If you wanted to, you could probably just ask them to check on your application. It’s possible that they’ve already sent their decision by mail and you just haven’t received it yet. But I know the feeling, I’m pretty anxious waiting to hear myself.

I applied on September 30th. I’m an instate special status applicant. I’m not sure about that. If you call the Office of Admissions, I would just inquire by saying something like, “I was wondering if I could check on where my application is in the admissions process.” Then they will probably respond by saying that a decision has been mailed to you or the application is still under review. I’m not sure if they would tell you your actual decision or not over the phone but it probably wouldn’t hurt if you wanted to ask. If they won’t, I would think that they could probably at least tell you whether a decision has been mailed yet or not, which would help.

Okay, sounds good! I wish you the best of luck with everything! :)

Has anyone heard their updated decision after being requested for new test scores? I heard they started sending out new decisions and that everyone should know within the next 2 weeks. I’m not sure if that’s true or not.

Dd accepted Swanson Engineering, intended BioE major! Stats: ACT 33 (34english/35math), top 5%, GPA 3.9/4.6. Hoping she is able to join her brother (Pitt ChemE class of '15) and sister (Pitt BioE class of '17)!

wow, amanda, impressive acceptanece and stats!

Congrats Amandakayak!! I am hoping D hears this week.

S2 from Maryland accepted Swanson Engineering, honors college. We thought he would be, but it is really nice to have it confirmed. Now for the long wait for scholarship notification.

I’ve just been accepted to Pitt’s Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences!
Weighted GPA: 4.0
Unweighted GPA: 3.875
ACT: (E: 30, M: 26, W: 30, Essay: 10)
High School Rigor: 5 APs and 2 College in High School courses total.

way to go chelsey123, I’ve been rooting for you!

My daughter was admitted a few weeks ago (she applied a few weeks after you did) with stats similar to yours (though she took the sat, not the act), and pitt is likely her first choice.

Hi Jboon12345!
You are in company. My son applied with special status the first week or two into September. His application was showing complete by September 22nd. We still have not heard anything. He wrote an email to admissions a few days ago but didn’t get a response. Makes me a little nervous for him. It has been completed for 3 1/2 weeks. They kept sending him emails to apply and said that we wouldn’t have to wait long for a response. Just don’t know what to think. His stats are ACT 33 (took once so on one sitting), 10 APs upon graduating, AP scholar, President of HS band,6.2 grade pt (not sure how to convert), 1st in state awards
I can go on
various other stuff
so hopefully we will hear something this week! Good luck to you!

Congrats to your D @Amandakayak and your S @Marylandfour!

Yay @Chelsey123!

Your D’s is probably in the mail @twogirls.

STEMFamily I would imagine that my D’s will arrive soon but hers was completed on 10/6. I think Bandmom123 will arrive before hers.

Bamdmom123 can your son call Pitt and ask? I suspect it’s in the mail.

Hi guys! So I attended the Pitt open house on Oct 4th. They offered free application to anyone who filled out a (paper) application there. I did. They also said you could still send in your supplemental essays/resumes if you choose. I haven’t recieved anything telling me they’ve gotten my application. Should I be concerned or should I give it some time since it was on paper? Also, where should I send in my essays?

@Sumjonas I don’t know that they would send anything saying they received the application so you might not hear anything until a decision has been made. You send your essays to oafa@pitt.edu and make sure your full name, address, and date of birth are on everything you send so they can associate it with your application.

Never fails! The moment you start wondering about it, then you hear something. Son just got his today in the mail!!! It was dated October 9th if that helps anyone. I am waiting for my son to get home to let him open it but it says Congratulations! in big letters across the front like someone stated earlier. So excited for him! Hang in there Jboon12345 because it looks like it can take a week or more in the mail!

Twogirls, I’m glad that he didn’t have to call! It did seem like it took quite some time compared with some others on here but all good things to those who wait, I suppose! Yours should come soon!!! Good Luck!

Is there a place I could check my status online or no because I submitted it through paper?
