Thank you for the reply, hailtopitt1787! It’s good to know how the process works!

@hailtopitt1787 If I have applied to all of the PITT campuses, and I have just received an acceptance letter from PITT Bradford, does that mean that I have no chance of getting into the main campus? Main campus has not sent me anything back yet.

@Chelsey123, I just spoke to one of our Admissions Counselors, she said there are some requirements that are waived with SAT scores (typically 600 or above on either math or critical reading). However, it is best to wait and speak with an academic adviser about this question. The academic advisers meet with incoming freshmen and at that time they will handle any credit applications based on your unique test results and transcript.

@jcmak97 It depends, and it’s hard to speak directly to your situation without knowing all of the details. As a brief note, if you received the letter from our Pittsburgh campus referring you to Bradford with information on the Options Program, that means the admissions committee felt that that campus would best fit your academic interests. If you have further questions specific to your application, it would be best for you to call our admissions office: 412-624-7488.

I just received my acceptance today. But I’m wondering about a. scholarships (bc it doesn’t mention any so does this mean I didn’t get anything?) and b. (this is kind of stupid of me but…) I applied to the arts and sciences school but am thinking that maybe I’d like to do a different school, do people switch after they are accepted into a certain one?

@hailtopitt1787 When will we be notified of we are able to apply for Pitt Medical School GAP. I have already received both my acceptance letter and my Honors College letter. Thanks!

I just received a letter from Pitt admissions saying they have my application but are missing my transcript (which was sent by high school almost two weeks ago) and also my application fee?! they said in the letter not to worry if you have already sent this stuff in. But, how would they not have a record of my application fee ? I don’t think the online app let me submit until the online credit card payment was made?!?

@hailtopitt1787
Thanks! I received a 30 on ACT English but I only received a 590 on SAT Critical Reading. If they waive a course requirement for above a 600 on critical reading, would they use my ACT English score of 30 in place of my SAT Critical Reading score to waive the course requirement?

@thurber - D received the same letter last Friday (almost two weeks after everything was submitted). If you have my.pitt.edu account, log-on and check the status or call them in the morning. We found out Pitt has everything. Still not sure why/how D received the letter though. Good luck.

@pie424, the Scholarship Committee begins meeting this week. You should hear about scholarships no later than March 1st. And yes, you may switch majors. Incoming freshmen all have the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor, at that point you can talk to them about your changing interests and they will assist you with switching majors.

@Thurber, I would suggest you check the my.pitt.edu portal (as @frommd suggested) and see what your status is there and whether we have received anything. There are certainly times when we send the letter and then receive your transcript or whatever we are missing the same day or soon after, so it may be that our letter and your transcript just passed in the mail and all is well. The my.pitt.edu portal has more recent information on your status than that letter. If anything seems amiss when you check your status, please call our office: 412-624-7488 and we can help you sort everything out.

@Chelsey123, Pitt does take the best scores from each test for admissions, but you will have to discuss course requirements with your academic advisor. You will have the opportunity to meet with an academic advisor as an incoming freshmen and they will be able to take care of all of that and setting you up on your academic path.

@hailtopitt1787 - does the scholarship committee review ALL admitted students or just certain tier applicants?

All admitted students are automatically reviewed for merit based aid. You can read more about the Financial Aid process here as well: https://oafa.pitt.edu/learn-about-aid/

@hailtopitt1787 You are eligible and considered for merit aid even if you have not completed the FAFSA, correct?

@comogirl, that is correct! Completion of the FAFSA is not required in order to be considered for Pitt’s merit-based scholarships.

@hailtopitt1787 When will we be notified of we are able to apply for Pitt Medical School GAP. I have already received both my acceptance letter and my Honors College letter. Thanks!

@indianboy2400, because the selection process for the Med School GAP is so involved, it takes a little longer than some of the other GAPs. You can expect to hear by January. More information, with an FAQ, is located on our Med School GAP page. https://oafa.pitt.edu/who-fits-at-pitt/guaranteed-admissions-programs/medicine-gap/

Could you tell me more about your daughters stats who got accepted into nursing?? Was this in-state? I really wantt to do nursing at Pitt but I’m afraid I won’t get in.

My daughter who was accepted into nursing had a 30 ACT AND A 3.8 unweighted GPA our school does not weight but an A- is a 3.6 and school take that into account from what we’ve been told and consider a kid with only one b like her differently than they might at a school with a different scale. A Few AP and honors classes but mostly regular level. She did have some nice extracurriculars: President of 2 major school clubs , Editor in chief of yearbook , won state 1st place in state debate award. Did the essays and had what I think were good but not outstanding recs

I got a lot of emails from Pitt about applying with Priority Status, which had an Oct. deadline. I didn’t manage to get my application sent in until Oct. 19, so I sent in a regular application (with the fee paid, and all the short answers/essay etc.) Then a couple of days later I got an email saying the priority deadline has been extended. So I called Pitt admissions and asked if they will consider my application as priority status (basically, I asked if I could get the early admission decision.) They said yes, it would still be considered as priority. But I just got another email urging me to apply with my priority status! So now I don’t know how my application is being considered or when I will get a decision.

I don’t think it matters. Since Pitt is rolling they will look at your application once its complete and get back to you in 2-3 weeks with a decision. Mine took two weeks but they are pretty busy right now. Have you received your Pitt ID yet? If so you can verify they have everything online. If not you should call them. Decision will come by mail. Should be soon! Good luck.

what about honors college admission? my letter didn’t mention it, but does it go out with the financial aid package then?
