@pie424 Look at these links. From my understanding, while some incoming freshmen who have high grades and test scores may be invited up front to take honors courses there is no prerequisite or admission into UHC at Pitt. Just your desire to work hard and take honors courses if and when you want to. I also think you can take one or many. Probably best to talk it over with your advisor to determine what is best for you.

@Thurber, your application will still be considered with the same priority. No need to worry! As long as we get a complete application from you, our admissions committee is working hard to make decisions within a few weeks of receiving the application. You can always log into my.pitt.edu to make sure that your status is complete and we have everything we need. As long as it says the app is complete, you are good to go and should get a decision within a few weeks.

Just got accepted today!! So excited because it’s the first college I heard back from and also tied for my top choice!
Submitted my application in the last week of October and sent my supplements in first week of November.
2190 SAT and 3.6 GPA, good luck to everyone!

Same ^^ My application was completed November 4 and I just got my email of acceptance yesterday and I got the letter in the mail today! The letter was marked as November 7th, so I am really surprised with how fast they made their decision. I was so happy to get accepted. Good luck everyone!

@Bella88, we have just rolled out a new campaign this week (#pittcomingsoon)! We are now sending an email announcement to accepted students with a letter to follow.

I’ve applied to Pitt as a transfer student. I submitted everything, including my supplemental application for the Social work program, by 10/31/14. I still can’t sign into the student application web portal. I have confirmed that I have the right username/password. I’ve already contacted the processing center and they said they have everything. Any idea as to why I can’t login? Does it usually take longer for Pitt to evaluate transfers vs. first year freshman?

That’s great to hear! I got an email today from Pitt but unfortunately it wasn’t a decision email, it was called “What is Life Like at Pitt?” and then it had some information from the office of student affairs. Hopefully soon - it’s been 3 and a half weeks since I sent my app and I’m getting anxious! :)

Hello @lilybee5989! The fact that your application is still being evaluated shouldn’t have any bearing on whether you can log in to the portal. Are you going to the website my.pitt.edu and logging in under “student applicants”? If you are in the right place and still having trouble, please call our office and tell them specifically that you are having technical difficulties with your log in and they should be able to get it all straightened out for you. I am sorry for the inconvenience and hope you get it resolved soon!

Applied on 10/21 and got my acceptance email on 11/10. Can’t believe I got in because my stats are not nearly as good as everyone else’s that commented but I’m so happy I got accepted!!

@FromMD, while the Scholarship Committee has started meeting, it is hard for me to give you anything more specific than their final deadline: students who are selected for merit aid will hear about scholarships no later than March 1. The Committee does meet every week, but it is not uncommon for students to go through several reviews before a decision is made, just because the scholarship process is fairly competitive. Thanks for your patience, you will know in the next few months at the latest!

@hailtopitt1787 - Thanks! Hopefully it won’t take “months” to find out. Do you know if the process has changed over the past a few years? My S2 applied (HS Class of 12) and I looked over his old Pitt file - acceptance letter 12/6/2011 and scholarship/Chancellor’s invite letter (same letter) was dated 12/12/2011. It sure sounds like the process is different and takes longer now??

I think the scholarship committee begins to meet the first week in November, which was last week. I guess the question, which we don’t know the answer to, is - do the scholarship letters go out immediately?

@FromMD and @twogirls The Committee has started making decisions. As I mentioned before, due to the competitiveness of the scholarships, some students go through two, sometimes three, reviews before a final decision is made. While some students find out about a scholarship quite early, possibly within three weeks of being admitted, many more do not find out until much later. Bottom line, those students selected to receive an award will find out no later than March 1st.
