University of Pittsburgh-Class of 2019 Acceptance

@krispy1‌ The website says that ~350 people apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship and that they interview ~40 students. Not sure how many of those students receive it though; it seems to be pretty selective.

http://cscholar.honorscollege.pitt.edu/recipients

Is full tuition different from Chancellor’s scholarships?

Chancellor’s Scholarship is full ride - includes R&B.

Got full tuition and Chancellor’s Invite

Not to keep harping on this, but I got ANOTHER email urging me to apply with my priority status. I applied mid October, just after the original priority deadline, with a regular application. Yes, I would love to be considered as a priority applicant! (I’m assuming priority applicants have a good chance of getting accepted? or do they often get rejected?) At least, I’d like the decision within three weeks that comes with priority applications, but that’s passed already. Any way to get admissions to move my application over to the priority pile? Or does it really, truly, not matter?

Oh yes I see, 14 last year, very selective (the Chancellors’ that is)

@thurber‌ Hm, I don’t think it really matters? I applied to Pitt with (I think) a regular app on 10/30 and my decision came within a week. You should be hearing back any day now. Good luck!

@thurber. My daughter got the e mail urging her to apply priority the same day she got her acceptance in the mail. Lol. Left hand did not seem to know what right hand was doing. But I don’t mean to say anything bad about Pitt. Their communications with my daughter have been excellent. Very impressed

@bluerx Congratulations! Did you actually received a “full ride” or did you receive full tuition and a Chancellors invite like everyone else is reporting? If it is indeed a full ride, can you provide details? Was there a name for the scholarship you received?

Congrats to all of you who got Full Rides and Full Tuition. Can you please post your stats please? I applied on 10/11 and I got accepted but did not hear about scholarships. UPitt is my top choice, so I’m eagerly waiting to hear.

I found out that I was accepted by email, and I still haven’t received my letter yet, but it should be coming soon. However, on my most recent ACT, I scored a 35, three points higher than previously, and I don’t think they saw that before they accepted me. If I don’t get full ride or an invite for the Chancellor’s, do you think I can call them up and ask them to review me again with the new score?

@Chelsey123, for departments/schools that do not offer guaranteed admissions, you will go through the typical admissions process like you would for any graduate school. You can get further guidance from academic advisors once you are in college, but the School of Psychology’s website can give you some more information about admissions. It is based on your undergraduate performance, not on your high school grades. <a href=“Childhood Experiences and Adult Sleep | Psychology | University of Pittsburgh”>Childhood Experiences and Adult Sleep | Psychology | University of Pittsburgh;

@Packrat5000, have you sent the updated scores to us? If we have them, the Scholarship Committee should include them in their holistic review of your application. Congrats on your acceptance!

Thanks! So for graduate programs where freshman guarantees are not offered, the admission consideration for them is solely based on college performance without regard to anything done in high school? (such as GPA, SAT/ACT).

My son received his award letter today. It was for $10,000/year and an invitation to apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship.
In-state, 4.75 GPA, 1550 Cr. Read/Math, ranked top 3%

Yes, just as it would be for applying to any other graduate program. Graduate programs will look at your GPA from college and your GRE scores (or GMAT or LSAT or MCAT depending on what graduate degree you want). If you are interested in graduate school and come to Pitt for your undergraduate degree, we have academic advisors who can help you with the process of preparing and applying for graduate school once you are here!

Do students have a better chance of getting into graduate school for their selected degree program at Pitt if they completed their undergraduate work at Pitt? Or do they consider all applicants equally for the graduate programs regardless of where undergraduate work was completed?

ProudMomx3 Yes! I recieved the Helen Faison scholarship which is a full ride.
