University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

@hailtopitt1787 Hi. Are you able to tell me if admission emails are released at the same time? So if someone got theirs around 3:00 today , would everyone else for that day be getting theirs then? Does it go by admission counselor ? Thanks so much !

@hailtopitt1787 meant to say acceptance emails?

Just wanted to update everyone that I received my acceptance letter today in the mail 4 days after the buttons popped up on the app. I have not received an email yet. I got admitted to Art and Sciences studying pre-rehab sciences! Here are some stats incase anyone was wondering:
1300 SAT
28 ACT
98/100 UW GPA
101.25 W GPA
Rank 7/72
President NHS
Vice President of my class
Captain of volleyball and cheer
100+ hours of community service
Any other questions feel free to ask! Congrats to everyone else

The email I received today arrived at 2:44 pm and my buttons changed around 12:00 on the mobile app on Tuesday. After I hit the accept button it had me fill out a residency thing which asked about whether my parents and I lived in PA after that it took me back to the no pending applications page.

Got my letter today! Buttons changed yesterday (or probably before that, I hadn’t checked) Applied to the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences for Neuroscience on 9/10, OOS. Here are some stats if they’re helpful:
ACT: 35
SAT: 1550
GPA: 4.4 (no ranks)
Does anyone know how long it takes for honors college decisions to come in after the letter? Congrats to all!!

Probably within 2 weeks, @blank2019 . Congrats. H2P

@Winky1 one last question . My husband is very skeptical of the “button change “ deal. He thinks that maybe it shows up once an application is reviewed . Is it possible that those who have gotten rejection letters also have had their buttons changed . I looked back at the posts swim last year and can not find anything validating that argument , but not many people posted when they were rejected . Thx

I am very confused and worried at the same time. I am confused because I thought that the admissions team generally spends about 4 weeks to review an application after submission, yet, some people who say that they applied in the first week of September already have their acceptance letters or have gotten hints of an acceptance. Now I am starting to get worried since I also applied in the first week of September and have not gotten any hint of acceptance/rejection. Could it be possible that they are releasing results in alphabetical order? Maybe certain programs require additional processing time (i.e. guaranteed admissions programs)? I applied for the Pre-Pharmacy program and opted to be considered for guaranteed admissions into the PharmD program so maybe that’s why. Nonetheless, I am staying hopeful and wishing that I can join the ranks of those who have already been accepted (congratulations, by the way).

@SpartanAzure there is no perfectly logistical rhyme or reason to the order in which decisions re released. My daughter applied like the first weekend the application portal opened but then didn’t get a decision until late September/early October. Some of the people who posted decisions had just applied a few weeks before. If you are truly concerned that something could be delaying your application you need to double check your portal and perhaps reach out to your regional AO or just call Pitt to make sure everything is complete.

@carachel2 the last time that I checked the portal, it said that my application was complete. When I checked the mobile app, it I was able to look at the SAT scores that I submitted, so I am assuming that Pitt received my test scores. Maybe I am just one of the unfortunate ones that have to wait a bit long than the others. Thank you for the response.

@hailtopitt1787 Just checking in again to see if progress has been made on the applications submitted through The Common App? Still no email confirming receipt of application, which was submitted 9/9. I believe you had said the the technical issue had been fixed and you expected all those apps to at least get the confirming email and link to the portal by the end of this week. Any status update? Any other people here submit via Common App received a confirmation email with portal link? Thank you, in advance!

i applied on 8/3, and haven’t heard anything back. Dietrich, neuroscience

Hello!

Everyone who submitted a Common App will get a status update from our Executive Director of Admissions very soon.

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

No, D hasn’t received any email confirmation yet. She also keeps checking her spam folder in case it ends up there. Hopefully soon! Probably should have applied via Pitt application in retrospect but wanted to keep it simple.

My son got his letter and email today. So so happy! Pitt was his #1 from the minute he stepped foot on campus.

My son got the email today ! FYI . Buttons changed on Tuesday . He’s thrilled as am I .

I called and apparently my application is in committee. what does that mean in terms of when i hear back

D’s buttons showed up on 9/19 but still no e-mail or letter. Starting to get a bit nervous - was hoping it would show up before the weekend.

@DCNatFan my D’s letter was postmarked the day after her buttons changed, and it took almost a week to arrive by snail mail. On a weird note, she received the “what you’ve been waiting for” email TWICE, 4 days apart. I’m sure your D will hear shortly!

Son applied through Pitt app on 9/9
Swanson School of Engineering
Accept button in mobile app on 9/19
Email received on 9/21
Snail mail received on - not yet!
SAT 1380 (720 Math, 660 RW)
Rank: 7 of 142
Avg: 102.1 weighted
Junior and senior year took only Dual Credit classes at a state university, will graduate HS with 45 college credits, including Calc I and II, Physics, Chemistry

We are so excited to have our second Pitt Panther in our family, our daughter is a senior and has loved every minute of it!

My son seemed to be approved pretty quickly, my uninformed guess is that problems with the common app allowed his app through the Pitt website to be processed faster, and perhaps his Dual Credit work moved him up on the favorables list.

To the person or persons who respond as @hailtopitt1787, I would just like to say thanks, as a parent who has now gone through this stressful and emotional process twice, I’ve read a lot of your comments, and you are a great asset to Pitt!
