University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

@hew100 I’m not exactly sure how gpa’s correspond to gpas that are out of 4.0 or 5.0, but my son had a weighted gpa of 4.1 and an unweighted of 3.6, so my thoughts are this may be in line with a 90/100 or maybe even less . Also, he scored a 1240 on his sat so my sense is you don’t have to have a perfect gpa or perfect sat scores . His essays were strong ,he’s always had a rigorous course load , he’s passionate about his major and showed demonstrated interest . And he’s out of state ( not sure is that helps for sure or not ). So , don’t get too concerned about what you’re reading . Hope it all works out did you !

My D19 just received her acceptance e-mail today. We are OOS. She has a 3.4 GPA (3.7 WGPA) and 1290 SAT.

My son received his acceptance email and letter today! He applied 9/9. He logged into the app over the weekend and saw the accept/decline buttons. Based on the other comments in this thread, we were hopeful the acceptance was coming. Below are his stats:
In-state
1330 SAT
4.4 WGPA

He is so excited!

I just received a letter from the admissions office and it looks like they want to see my mid-senior year grades. Does anyone know how many people usually get asked this and how many of them usually end up getting accepted? Also, does anyone know how this process works, can I submit my final quarter grades? Or will I really have to wait until January for my semester grade to come out? I am glad that I got this instead of just being rejected, and now I at least know that I am being considered for admissions. However, now I am even more nervous and stressed knowing that I can’t allow myself to slip up even a little bit if I want to have the best chance of admission.

By the way I have a 3.2 unweighted and 3.6 weighted gpa with a 1370 SAT. I applied to the school of arts and science for the pre-pharmacy program. I am also an OOS applicant.

@cookie16 the envelope for acceptance was pretty thin for my D. Big, but thin, really not much but 2 pieces of paper?

has anyone received notification from the Honors College? (referencing a previous comment)

is it weird that i applied on august 3rd and haven’t heard back yet? it was marked complete since the beginning, i have called twice and they said it was in committee. i’m not expecting to hear back to send mid year grades because i have a 4.67 weighted and a 34 act. is anyone else in this situation or should i be concerned?

@caps813 I also applied in august and have heard nothing. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one.

for school of engineering, does anyone know approximate turnaround time for decision, based on experience?

@angeltalk my daughter applied to Swanson on Sept. 6th. Her buttons changed on the 17th, we got the email on the 21st and the letter on the 22nd.

Definitely curious about this button thing. My daughter’s application shows complete. But she received an email saying they are holding it, because she let them know that she is taking the SAT one more time in October.

When we log on to the app or the app via the website, under “Admission” it does say “Accept/Decline Admissions.” Not exactly a “button,” but is that what everyone is talking about?

We’re not really expecting a notification until late October, so I’m not sure about the button thing…

@vamom4 I expect to be in a similar position, I am taking the October SAT. When did she get the email about waiting on October scores relative to applying? Also if you do not mind, what was the prior SAT?I applied 9/19 but have not heard back yet.

@chrissy2018 Thanks for the info… It helps… My S applied on 9/22… I guess I will wait for atleast 12 days then !!!

@vamom4 When you click “Accept/Decline Admissions”, it will lead you to another page. The “buttons” are there. There is one for accept and one for decline. Prior to my buttons appearing, I believe the page said something like, “You do not have any pending applications at this time.”

@hailtopitt1787 My daughter applied 9/22 via the Common App for the nursing school. I see that there has been a delay for those applying with the Common App. Has the problem been fixed or can we expect to wait longer than those who completed the Pitt or Coalition application? Just trying to manage her expectations. Pitt is her first choice and I know she will be anxiously checking her email. Thanks!

@nwalesmom, Hello! We are processing all applications as quickly as we can. There is no longer a backlog with Common Applications at all. Your daughter can expect to hear from our office about next steps in the process within 7-10 business days. Wishing her good luck!

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

@hailtopitt1787 That is great news. Thank you for your quick response. Really helpful.

Quick Question… I applied to Pitt last week. On the mobile app, under the admissions tag, there is an Accept/Decline Admission. When I click on that, the screen says “You have no pending applications at this time”. What does this mean??

@amanwithadream If your application is marked as complete when you log onto the website, the message you are seeing on the app means your application is probably being reviewed. That is the message we saw when our application was complete, but a decision had not yet been made.

Accepted to Dietrich!

I didn’t get an email though, it was just a letter… Also, how soon should I expect the GAP supplement to come out?
