University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

@slierbon How did you receive the notification to apply to the GAP? Was it with your acceptance letter?

I received an acceptance letter today, but I have not received the GAP invitation, nor an email… I never received a confirmation email, and I checked with the IT desk to make sure that they had the correct email on file (they did!).

Thanks!!

I submitted my application on September 10th through the common app and got my login details on the 22nd. Today I found out about the app through this feed and I checked and there are buttons present. My stats are pretty good and I am an IB Diploma Candidate with a 4.3 weighted GPA. Should I expect that the buttons mean admission? I have not found any evidence against it so far.

Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. My DS applied Sept 9th to Swanson and Honors through Common App. It took a while but around 9/20 he got an email to activate his Pitt account using a provided Username and Activation Key. He did that, and at the end It said this:

Further instructions regarding your application to the University of Pittsburgh will be communicated directly by your admissions office; these instructions may require the use of this applicant account.

That was 9 days ago and he still has not heard anything more about how to log on to his account or access the portal or app or whatever it is that Pitt uses. I called Pitt mid-last week and they told me his application is complete. Doesn’t it seem like he should be able to access a portal or his account somehow. How have you all managed to do that? @hailtopitt1787, any suggestions?

Download the app Pitt PSMobile with the username and password given. Under accept/decline admissions there may be some buttons showing if they are accepted.

Thanks, @vacollege2019. I had looked in the App Store for a University of Pittsburgh app and that did not show in the search. I needed the name to find it. No buttons yet, apparently, but at least we have something to verify that his app is in process and we can keep our eyes out for the change. Appreciate the guidance.

Great news. My D applied 09/11 to the School of Nursing and today I see the Accept/Decline Admission screen. Does this mean accepted and committed ? or we still have time to commit until next year. We are waiting for other schools so wanted to confirm.

@HarviK You want to click on the link that says Accept/Decline Admissions. That will bring up a new page that says something like “You have no pending applications at this time” (which means you’re still in process) OR separate buttons that say Accept and Decline (which anecdotally means you’ve been accepted). Don’t click on the Accept button unless you’re ready to commit! You have until May 1 to do so.

@chrissy2018 - Thanks for the information. I see two separate button Accept and Decline. Based on your input at this time we will wait and see for email or mail confirmation of acceptance. thanks.

@Cherax, You can read about the full Medicine GAP application process here: https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/guaranteed-admissions-programs/medicine-gap/

A Pitt Admissions Staffer

@HarviK Congrats on your D! Do you mind sharing stats, I applied to nursing a few weeks back and am very anxious!

Just got an email today that I was admitted! Best of luck to everybody!

@pharm19 Congrats! Do you mind sharing your stats? OOS?

Did anyone get an acceptance from the common app yet? I know they have had some trouble with it

@cherax , The Gap eligibility invitation came within the body of the acceptance letter. It said that details will follow.

Yes. My son submitted his common app on 9/11 and got an acceptance email yesterday 10/1.

@ cherax. CORRECTION. I was mistaken. The GAP letter came separately, but , on the same day as the School Acceptance letter.

Was anyone able to add teacher recommendation to the common app for Pitt?
D was able to add counselor recommendation (school report) but adding teacher recommendation (the recommendation already submitted by teacher) is not working.

@learning19 Pitt does not accept letters of recommendation.
