@hailtopitt1787 We applied through Pitt Portal on 9/22. whats a reasonable time frame to expect decisions? doe it vary for each of the schools within Pitt? Thanks.
Thank you for your reply.
I have one more question. can anyone please let me know:
https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/class-profile/
in that link, why is school of computing not shown?
@learning19 The upcoming year is the first time it’s been a separate entity for freshman admissions. Up until now you start in Dietrich and then go into the School of Computing after the end of sophomore year.
@angeltalk, 4-6 weeks from the date the application is marked complete is the timeframe we give everyone, as a rough estimate. Good luck!
@learning19, If you are having technical issues with the Common Application, I would recommend contacting the application’s help team directly.
When it comes to letters of recommendations, we will accept them, but we do find letters are beneficial in very limited circumstances (for example: providing context for variance in your overall academic performance). We recommend that you submit responses to the Short Answer Questions and use that space to explain or clarify what most recommenders would cover in a letter.
I hope that is helpful!

@hailtopitt1787 Thanks for the info.
@hailtopitt1787 ,Thank you for your reply. undergraduate admissions website and you are telling that letters of recommendation from teachers are accepted. But we are not able apply teacher recommendation to Pitt. We were able to apply counselor school report (assuming that has some form of school info and recommendation). As I mentioned earlier, we are able to apply the teacher recommendation to other universities (we tried couple of different universities). Only for Pitt, we are not able to apply teacher recommendation.
Today is already Oct 3rd. We have been postponing the application to Pitt.
Also for Pitt, D’s application is Out of state. so scholarship will be very important for us to make a decision.
as we are getting delayed, I am worried that we will miss out on scholarships and submitting without teacher recommendation, how will it impact scholarship.
@learning19 You’ve been told several times by people on this board as well as an actual Pitt admissions officer that they do not consider letters or recommendation for admission or for scholarship money. While they may accept the letters it is doubtful to have any kind of impact on your application. It’s also clearly stated on their website. If that is what’s holding up your application I’d suggest you submit without it.
@learning19, Unfortunately, I do not have a way to address the specific technical issue you are having. I would encourage you to contact technical support within the Common Application for assistance.
However, I will say that the letter of recommendation will not be considered as a major part of your daughter’s scholarship consideration. Our Scholarship Committee finds the responses to the Short Answer Questions much more helpful when it comes to getting to know a student for holistic review. Perhaps you could consider submitting the application without the letter and emailing the letter to oafa@pitt.edu with your daughter’s full name and address and asking it to be added to her file.
Hope that helps!

just curious if anyone has gotten accepts yet who have applied through the common app?
If my daughter’s buttons changed on the Pitt Mobile App, can she be sure that she is accepted to the Pitt Campus, and not to one of the branch campuses? She didn’t list any of the branch campuses in her application, only the Pittsburgh Campus.
Do you know when the email with the login credentials come? is submitted my application today but I never got an email.
@EmperorNapoleon I didn’t get the login email until two days after I submitted my application
@hailtopitt1787 I applied 9/11 and was accepted 9/19! However, I want to edit my essays + add my October 2018 SAT scores before honors college application review begins. Is this possible?
Okay thank you!
@jbreslin49, Congrats! It should be possible to make some changes to your application file - but you will need to contact our office to do so: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

@worriedcat in state, 34 ACT, 13 APs, 3.9 unweighted
@pharm19 Thank you! You have impressive scores with heavy AP workload. I hope you will get Honors & great scholarship, too.
Applied 9/22. Got login credentials on 9/25. Got acceptance email today, 10/5 for Swanson School of Engineering. Waiting for the mail.
@hailtopitt1787. Got admit email today from Swanson… Two questions. When would we know about Honors College admittance ? Also, when would we know about Financial aid package? Thanks for all your guidance in this forum.
