University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

If the student is going to do dual enrollment in 2 subjects (high school senior , freshman application to college) and the application process for dual enrollment is not yet complete (because dual enrollment deadline is end of this month), then can that dual enrollment still be mentioned in Pitt self reporting or in common app ?

If dual enrollment is not mentioned during application process, then when can this be informed to Pitt?

Thanks to @hailtopitt1787 and all parents for your answers.

@hailtopitt1787. Hello, I applied to the school of computing and information on 9/19. I believe the Pitt recieved my SRAR on 9/24. I logged on to the Pitt mobile app and it says “You have no pending applications at this time”. I am worried. Can you please let me know when I can expect a decision?

@worriedcat thanks! same to you too!!

@angeltalk Did you apply via Common App or Pitt/Coalition App?

Do buttons changing mean accepted to main campus?

I got this message too! my unweighted was a 3.6 and weighted was about a 4.2. I got a 1230 SAT and I think that why i was deferred. I’m an OOS and I really like pitt so hopefully I get in. Good luck!

Hey Guys. I submitted my Pitt application on 10/5. All fees were paid and SRAR was linked to my Coalition Application and I sent my ACT scores to Pitt. But it says that those things are missing and my application is incomplete. Does it take time for Pitt to receive these informations? Thank you for any help.

@sable999 We applied through Pitt portal.

Hello Guys. When I logged in to check my Pitt Application Status, it says that I didn’t pay me application fee when I did it through the Coalition App? Is there something that i am missing?

@learning19, You might consider reporting what you have already settled and then once the application process is complete and you are enrolled in the dual course, contact our office to make an update to your applicant file. You can do this by emailing us at oafa@pitt.edu or calling 412-624-7488.

@angeltalk, Notification about Pitt Honors will come after the Pitt Honors Priority Consideration Deadline has passed. That deadline is November 1. Once applications are reviewed for Pitt Honors, applicants can expect to hear back by December 15 at the latest. For merit scholarships, those notifications go out on a rolling basis November-February. Financial Aid awarding goes out by March, at the latest. So the bottom line is, you will know about Honors, merit aid, and financial aid by early spring - plenty of time to make your decision about whether Pitt is it! The deadline to commit to Pitt is May 1.

@amanwithadream, That is nothing to worry about! Your application has been processed and you should hear a decision from us very soon (via letter or email). Good luck!

@EmperorNapoleon, It does take a little bit of time for us to process your application and for the portal to update. A few business days is nothing to worry about! If something is in fact missing from your application, we will be sure to reach out to you. You can also take a look at the portal in a few more business days and if it still indicates that some things are missing, feel free to contact our office to check on the status of your application: 412-624-7488.

Thank you @hailtopitt1787

@hailtopitt1787, Thank you so much!

@Nursingmom2202 I would like to know this too!

I was curious to know if the only essay that Pitt requires is their 3 Short Answer Questions? I think I know the answer to this but I just need confirmation.

Thank you @hailtopitt1787! So should I check the mobile app to see if the buttons change soon (Right now the app just says “There are no more pending applications” or should I wait for the email or letter via email? Or Both?

@hew100, That is correct - just responses to the Short Answer Questions for admission and consideration for merit scholarships!

There are just additional essay requirements for students who would like to be considered for Pitt Honors or for our prestigious PA resident full-tuition scholarships.

Pitt Honors: https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/pitthonors/
The Stamps Scholarship: https://oafa.pitt.edu/financialaid/academic-scholarships/stamps-scholarship/
The Nordenberg Scholars Program: https://oafa.pitt.edu/financialaid/academic-scholarships/nordenberg-scholars-program/

@amanwithadream, Official notification of your admissions decision will not be posted in the portal. Look for an email/letter from us. Good luck!

@hailtopitt1787 Do students complete an application for The Stamps Scholarship and the Nordenberg Scholars and one PA Scholars application? I only see the PA scholars application on the website. Can you clarify what is needed to apply? Thank you!

@divol19, Yes! It is the same application for both the Stamps and Nordenberg scholarships.
