Hey Guys! Buttons changed on the app for me on October 15 2018 ( I submitted my application on October 5) and I got my acceptance letter through mail yesterday and the email today.

This are my stats:
WGPA- 4.3
ACT- 34
14 AP Classes (3 are also Dual Enrollment) and 2 DE classes.
Strong extracurriculars ( volunteering, leadership positions, science fair research etc.)
OOS (Virginia) for Neuroscience

@Tuuuuuuula, It should be 2927!

@learning19, I would encourage you to call our office to request the link. That way our staff can verify your status as an applicant and send the link and instructions directly to your email on file.

Thanks!

Hi, @hailtopitt1787 I noticed that Pitt doesn’t require the common app essay, but is it still going to be taken into account if I submit it?

@Tuuuuuuula Since a common app essay is not one of the requirements, I don’t think they would take a look. But I highly recommend filling out the short answer questions.

@Tuuuuuuula, We do not look at the Common App essay - but other schools you are applying to may want you to send it in. For Pitt, we ask that students provide responses to our Short Answer Questions.

@EmperorNapoleon @hailtopitt1787 thanks for the help!

has anyone else been asked to send their midyear report to pitt? does that mean i was deferred? what does it mean? i have a 1330 sat and 3.82 w gpa, but i had a upward grade trend (1.2 increase in junior year)- i think it might be my gpa that they are worried about as i had a few Cs.

@s9841210, It does not mean you are deferred. Our admissions committee will just sometimes request more information from an applicant before they make a final admissions decision. It doesn’t automatically lead to any specific decision - just means they would like to see your mid-year grades.

Good luck!

My son submitted the common app last week. It was not until later that we found out that Pitt does not use the extracurricular activities listed on the common app form. When he wrote his short answer essays, he did emphasize his community service activities, but he did not mention his athletic involvement or any scholastic awards he has received.

Should he contact admissions to provide this additional information?

Is this definitely still a thing? The page I find via Google is for last year and no longer exists, and when I search “cost analysis” on Pitt’s admission site, it finds nothing. My S19 does have a stronger offer, but it’s from our state flagship, so I don’t know if Pitt would consider that.

@hailtopitt1787 My son did not realize Pitt did not look at the common app essay and so did not answer the short answer questions. He is now worried that this will hurt his chances. Should he contact admissions to find out how he can add this to his application?

He can actually add them very easily using this link: https://stage.oafa.pitt.edu/forms/apltn_sa.php

I know that Pitt and Pitt Honors have separate reviews, but does anyone know if Pitt Honors looks at all five short answer questions or do they only look at the two required by Pitt Honors?

@mathmomvt , I see what you mean. I had called it their Cost Analysis Form, but it’s properly called the Cost Analysis Worksheet. When I searched for Cost Analysis Worksheet, I did find a link for 2018-19, like you said, and it was no longer on the site. @hailtopitt1787 , any help? This has been a very helpful tool for some comparing schools that are of similar stature to Pitt. My daughter initially received a $5,000 merit offer last year (we are in state), but after she submitted the worksheet comparing the merit offered to her from another comparable school, Pitt offered her $10,000 per year! She was very happy and is still happy as she continues to thrive as a new freshman at Pitt.

@pansspam It is my understanding that Pitt Honors only reviews the two Pitt Honors short answer questions, but that the other three questions are considered for merit aid and scholarships. I am sure @hailtopitt1787 will correct me if I am wrong.

@hailtopitt1787

We do not see any place to submit SAT subject tests or AP scores in UPitt separate application (not common app). Does it help to send them?

If I submitted my app with commonapp, is there any way I can check my application status? I have my Pitt ID number, but I am confused on how to login into the mobile app since it asks for an activation key and username, and I don’t have an account on Pitts separate portal.

I submitted my common app yesterday, how long is it supposed to take to get the email to do the srar? also how long are decisions typically taking via common app?
