University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

My daughter is a OOS applicant and has applied on Nov 11th to School of Business. I see here that most folks are posting between 4 - 6 weeks for hearing on decisions. I have the app downloaded as well. Should we hear something before the holidays ? Anyone applied during that time frame have got heard back ? Trying to lessen the stress around the holidays for the nervous applicant !!

Hi, I keep seeing posts about having an app. What app is this? Thx!

Hope2019 we are OOS and applied around the same time and have also not heard anything yet. Thankfully it’s one of many on my daughters list and she has had several acceptances already.

My OOS son applied to school of business around 10/15 and he just heard back on 12/10. His buttons changed a almost 3 weeks before he got a letter. At some point (maybe a week later) when he clicked on the buttons it said to ‘accept or decline’ his offer but never got email …then on 12/10 he got both the email and snail mail acceptance.

@Hope2019 I applied on Nov. 1st and I heard back last week. My one friend who applied on the 10th just heard back yesterday for bio. We’re out of state as well

Is the admission and scholarship committee meeting sometime next week before the holidays?

Hello, I was accepted to Pitt last month, but I have had major accomplishments since my application submission that I would like to convey to admissions for PittHonors and other scholarships. Should I just email the admissions office? I don’t see a place to do so on the admissions portal.

Also, do invitations to apply Chancellor’s scholarship come out with your scholarship offers? Because I got my scholarship info already and there was nothing on the scholarship letter about it so I was curious

Hello @ishmob111

You can call 412-624-7488 or email oafa@pitt.edu to inform one of our processors of your academic changes.

Interview notifications for the Chancellor’s Scholarship are sent in early-February and interviews typically happen throughout March.

I hope this clarifies your questions and
congrats on your scholarship award!

Thanks for the info Pitt Admissions Staffer. Does the Chancellor’s Scholarship notification depend on whether a commitment to Pitt was made, yet? Also, does committing open up availability of other merit-type aid beyond what has been offered already?

Hello @23mover

The Chancellor’s Scholarship is not awarded based on commitment and committing does not open up other merit-type scholarship opportunities. If you have more questions about scholarships, use this link as a reference: https://oafa.pitt.edu/financialaid/academic-scholarships/

@hailtopitt1787 can you provide any additional detail on the Honors College notifications, such as whether any will be sent out prior to Jan 12 or if they will all be sent on that day, and will the notification be by email or

@hailtopitt1787 sorry - last not got truncated when I hit the Post button. Last part was to be “or regular mail”

Thanks so much!!

Hi @MominPA2017,

Honors notifications will be sent out in letter form by regular mail on OR before January 12.

Good luck!

My daughter ordered SAT report and HS transcript to Pitt in November but submitted Common App on December15. What is the expected time frame to hear a decision ?

Hello @FMNYUS,

It typically takes 4-6 weeks to hear back from us with a decision. Good luck to your daughter!

@hailtopitt1787 thanks once again for providing quick and detailed answers. You are the only school I know of that goes onto this site to help answer all of our crazy, stress-filled questions.

@MominPA2017 You are very welcome. We are trying to make the application process less stressful and easier to navigate, which means being present on platforms like this to answer your questions.

@MominPA2017 You are so right. Having an admissions officer on this board is so helpful and calming . Have you been to the Penn State boards? They’re about to lynch each other over there. The poor moderator had to step down cause she was literally being bullied by some of the parents.

@allieandjoe I wish that lady would get her decision. Good grief.

But, FWIW, that mod doesn’t understand statistics (and things like yield, etc…) and is overly pessimistic to people on the lower end of the stat scale.
