University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

Even though the offices were closed we decided to roam around. Beautiful campus. Also got to watch the men’s basketball team play Colgate. That was a lot of fun. Great sense of community and pride at Pitt. I get the sense that there is a good balance between work and play. Son is really looking forward to going. Thank you pitt!

@Specialist009 have you filed your FAFSA? I think it was posted that financial aid awards might go out starting in February.

You can look at historical tuition and fees data on this website. https://ir.pitt.edu/historical-tuition/
I don’t think tuition increased from 2017/18 to 2018/19 for undergraduate instate students.
New tuition rates are published in July every year.

I think A&S tuition was about $18,000 instate last year. Fees run around $950, plus any course fees. Housing and meal plan runs about $11,000 a year, so just about $30,000.

Depending on FAFSA EFC you might qualify for a Pell grant and/or state grant, maybe work study, subsidized loan of up to $3,500 for the year, and unsubsidized loan of up to $2,000.

do the official letters of acceptance come digitally as well? it’s been about a week since I got admitted via the video e-mail and either the physical letter has not come or my mom through it out

The letter should be coming soon (in the mail).

Hi @ProudDad13

Congratulations to your daughter on her award! This does typically represent all the money she will be receiving from the University. However, if you have questions or concerns I recommend that you contact her Enrollment Services Manager: https://oafa.pitt.edu/esm_directory.php

I hope this helps!

I got accepted on 12/13 and received my acceptance letter in the mail, but no financial or scholarship information was included. How long after your acceptance did you receive your financial/scholarship information?

Hello. I have a quick question about my Pitt app. I submitted my application on December 31, 2018 and still haven’t gotten my log in information. I’m a bit worried. Should it come in the next few days? Thanks

@hannah1789 I got accepted round the same time and I received info on my merit based scholarship on the 23rd of December

@opalescence in the mail or online? did it come with your acceptance letter?

@Hannah1789 I came separately in the mail! I was hoping that it would come with the acceptance letter, but it didn’t

@opalescence thank you so much!!! was it just info about your merit scholarship or financial aid as well?

@hannah1789 it was just merit scholarship info. Hopefully financial aid will be coming out soon!!

Do buttons only change if you got accepted into the main campus?

Hey guys! Does anyone know if a C in ap calculus (first quarter) hurt my chances at getting into PITT CBA? (My school is dumb enough to send the “optional report”…its a school policy…)

SAT: 1380

@hailtopitt1787 hello, my school gives me the option to send my grades as semester grades or individual quarter grades. If I had a C+ I’m a math class for q1, but an A- in the class for q2, which may seem better to admissions? For them to see both of these individual grades as quarter grades, or for them to receive my mid-year grades as one semester grade (it would average out to a B).

@hailtopitt1787 My daughter’s my.pitt portal shows “application complete” with a submission date of November 11th. She has not received a decision yet. I know admissions was closed during the break, but at this point should we be calling admissions to check on things? We don’t want to bother them if we don’t need to. I know they’re busy!

Hi @college1919,

I would recommend sending your semester grades. Unless the Admissions Committee requests your grades earlier, then I wouldn’t worry about sending quarterly grades.

Good luck!

Hi @MomOfOne2023,

You should definitely call our office to check on the status of her application. They are really good at communicating if there are certain things missing on the application, which would also reflect on the portal.

Use this link to get in contact with the appropriate Enrollment Services Manager: https://oafa.pitt.edu/esm_directory.php

Good luck to her!

@hailtopitt1787 – any update on when honors invites will be sent and whether they will be communicated via email, snail mail or the portal? Thanks!
