@hailtopitt1787 So just to clarify, the honors notifications won’t be mailed until January 12? I ask because that’s different than the email that was sent in November, which said, “Those who met the November 1 Pitt Honors Priority Consideration Deadline will hear back from us by January 12 at the latest.” Notifications would need to be mailed before January 12 for the kids to hear back by January 12 at the latest. Sorry I’m getting so specific, it’s just that waiting is difficult!
Hi @salingerfan
I was informed that there actually will be an email going out before the 12th! The mailed letter should arrive after the 12th as you mentioned but you will know by email before then.
I was at student at one point, trust me I understand how nerve-racking this whole process is for everyone. I’m rooting for everyone on here, good luck to all of you!

@pittsburghscribe I was informed that an email will come before the 12th! Sorry for misinforming you, but hopefully this will be a nice surprise. Good luck!
@hailtopitt1787 Thank you for answering the question so quickly!
@hailtopitt1787 – Thanks for clarifying and glad to hear! Snail isn’t always the most reliable in my town.
My son applied on December 15 and has not heard back yet. Do they only notify you if you got accepted? Thanks.
@PopUpZone1921, Your son will hear from us about his admissions decision no matter what the decision is. It can take 4-6 weeks for our office to process and review an application. Please also keep in mind that our office was closed from December 24-Jan 2 for winter recess. So it is very likely that a decision has not been made quite yet. Best of luck to him!
Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
Hello,
When will students applying to the School of Medicine Guaranteed Admissions Program (GAP) be notified that they are selected to continue in the GAP review process? I received my admission letter on November 29th and am wondering if there is still a chance that supplemental applications for this program are being sent to applicants.
P.S. I reviewed the information about the program from these two links:
https://oafa.pitt.edu/explore/guaranteed-admissions-programs/medicine-gap/
https://www.medadmissions.pitt.edu/programs/guaranteed-admissions-program
Hi @Mii999
If you are selected to continue in the GAP review process, you will be notified within 2-4 weeks after you receive your admission letter. Only candidates who are selected to continue in the GAP review process will be notified.

Thank you @hailtopitt1787 for getting back to me - that makes sense and is what I was thinking. I am glad the admissions office took a break for winter recess! Patiently waiting
@hailtopitt1787 Have invitations to compete for Chancellors Scholarships been sent out yet, or will they be included with Honors College notification?
Hi @DumDeeDummm
No invitations will be sent out for the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Since only students admitted to Pitt Honors are considered for this scholarship, the honors college will call candidates directly and invite them to interview for the scholarship.
Good luck!

@hailtopitt1787 Great! Thank you!
@hailtopitt1787 do you know what time the Honors notifications are coming out today? Thanks!!
Honors decisions were just emailed.
I got accepted to honors!! #H2P
Congratulations!
Hey guys, I got accepted to Swanson on December 18, when do you think I will I hear back about scholarship information? It’s been nearly a month and I’m worried. I did all three essays, honors college essays, and have pretty good scores/gpa.
Do they not respond if you don’t receive scholarships?
@Fordanjen NOT that this will apply to you, but happened to call the office about that today. Was accepted on 10/29 and really want to attend but cant make a commitment until i heard from PITT on merit aid. Since we had been told in this thread by @hailtopitt1787 that they would contact us via mail (and not posted on our admissions portal) I decided to call and see if maybe they followed up with email or whatever. BUT found out that IF you are not chosen for scholarship aid you simply wont be contacted (which seem weird), I didnt ask, but he asked the name and looked it up and told me right on the phone that i wasnt chosen to receive anything.
SO short story long IF you get merit aid you will be informed by letter (No other means) and if you ARENT going to get aid you simply wont be contacted. Which is weird I know, but was kind of anti-climactic
That said, I wish you all the luck with the aid. Pitt is a great school and we hoped to attend but at 45K there are simply way better offers on the table. Am grateful to PITT for the acceptance however and keep it open as a graduate school option.
