Hey everyone!
I was accepted to Pitt about three weeks ago
I was just notified yesterday about honors!
Major: Nursing
Stats: Sat 1300
GPA: 4.3 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
Extracurriculars: Black student union, African student association, Students for social justice, poetry club, student member of the board for education, world smarts engineering stem winner
Damn. Hopefully I do get some, my stats were good enough for aid i just don’t know if I waited too long to apply/ if my essays weren’t strong enough
@stemsistershook congrats!!
Just got DENIED to honors program. Got in to Pitt with 5k a year scholarship. But no honors. 35/36 ACT. 1540 SAT. 4.5 GPA. national merit semifinalist. Tons of ECs. Ridiculous.
@stemsistershook Congrats! Best of Luck!
@hailtopitt1787 My son received 2 pieces of snail mail yesterday from Pitt: One letter about the safety and security of the campus and one about what a great value Pitt was. Can I assume these went out in lieu of merit aid? He was admitted to Arts and Sciences back in December and we do not anticipate any need based aid and were hoping for at least a small bit of merit aid but are realistic. Stats posted on this site would likely confirm that he is not a candidate for merit but still held out a slight bit of hope. Thanks!
I thought merit notification is still going out until March.
Hi @abbeany,
Those letters went out to all perspective students and are not an indication on whether a student will receive an award or not. Awards will be going out until March 1. Good luck to your son!

Hello! I’m going to attend the University of Pittsburgh next year. I’ve had trouble finding people to talk to about this whole college situation. If you feel the same, let me know.
Over the years there is a Facebook page for an incoming year that future Panthers start. Try to search it I am sure one has been stated for your graduation year. It helped my daughter with a roommate search as she did not know anyone that was an incoming freshman. She is now a Junior Chem E second semester and has loved Pitt since day one. Good Luck to you.
@hailtopitt1787 In the Honors College acceptance email it provides a link to accept or decline this offer and states that accepting this does not equate to paying an enrollment fee which is a separate process. We are a little confused though because when my son clicked on the link the form states that
He understands that accepting the offer of admission to the University of Pittsburgh Honors College, also known as Pitt Honors, requires a responsibility to meet specific requirements and expectations including: Submission of the $300 Enrollment Fee on or before May 1st.
He is very interested in accepting the Honors College but has not made a final decision on where he will attend as he has not heard from his other colleges yet. The form is a little confusing, is it safe to accept the offer and fill out the form without completely committing to attend University of Pittsburgh?
@IsItDoneYet My daughter said that the email stated that accepting honors does not obligate you to attend the school. I think the form asks for acknowledgement that the student knows they must go on to submit the enrollment fee & formally accept by May 1st to eliminate any misconception that accepting honors somehow satisfies those other requirements.
Hi @IsItDoneYet
Congrats on your son’s acceptance! I think I answered a similar question on the Honors thread. Yes, it is safe to accept the offer. This online acceptance form just lets us know your intentions and helps us identify those who decline their offer of Pitt Honors admission or acceptance of wait list.
The final commitment still has to be made through https://oafa.pitt.edu/committopitt/ by May 1.
I hope this helps!

@hailtopitt1787 my daughter got accepted to Pitts, but she also applied to the GAP program. Do you know when those results will be announced ?
@nickvvv Hi! I also got accepted and I’m most likely attending Pitt and as an OOS student i dont know anyone either really. join the facebook group!!
Hi @DD2019,
If you are selected to continue in the GAP review process, you will be notified within 2-4 weeks after you receive your admission letter. Only candidates who are selected to continue in the GAP review process will be notified. Good luck!

Do Pitt student affairs / student groups do most of their announcements and communication on Facebook? My D is not on FB - wondering if I should ask her to sign up?
I think my D has group me for student organizations. I do see some announcements from Pitt on FB but I assume the students get those in emails as well?
Thanks for the info. Because of your post, I called to see if my D qualified for merit aid and was told she doesn’t (which is what we figured). I’d rather know now for sure than to keep hoping. She got offers of merit at other schools, but Pitt is a top choice, so she still may go. Good luck to you.
Meant to say that my message was in response to @ZeeMeZeeYou.
