My daughter did receive merit in original acceptance and was admitted to honors today. It looks like they did this early release of some honors decisions last year too.
D23 got her honors acceptance today too!
If it is like previous years, this is a small first wave and the majority will be notified in Feb.
Are the honors admits all in state so far. Like the early acceptances? We are oos and honors is still pending.
My son is OOS and received notification of merit in his EA acceptance letter- $86,000ish. Today he was admitted to honors with additional merit. (But not notified of the additional amount) Last years thread states 2 waves of HC acceptances. Next round is in Feb if they follow what they did last year. Good luck!
We are oos
Could be by major?
I did some poking around a thread from last year about USC Honors. Some of the posters were saying that this December round of Honors acceptance are the applicants from which they will pull Top Scholars candidates. I couldnât find that info being confirmed by Admissions, but it was mentioned by 2 or 3 posters in that thread.
My daughter received EA with merit of âat least $40,000â but no email or update in portal from Honors. This really has taken her wind out of her sails. I hope the next round wonât be too far off in the distance.
Does anyone know are there denial emails sent to honors college or just offers? Trying to determine chances if no email came yesterday.
Based on last years thread- seems like no denials - just no email came. Majority of HC notifications seem to come out in February. But maybe calling admissions would be your best bet to find out for sure! Good luck:)
I am curious if anyone knows about how many people typically get the December honors acceptance. Also of those accepted yesterday, did anyone get less that the 86K merit in the original admissions letter? Thanks!
Yes initial ea offer was less
Idk how many offers went out yesterday but from what ive read on other forums this first wave is small and they pick who to offer top scholars from the first wave- but every year is different so who knows
I donât know how many went out yesterday but my daughterâs initial merit was less than 86k. According to her gpa and class rank she should have received more but she was test optional so maybe that hurt her scholarship amount. Hoping she will receive more now that she was accepted into SCHC.
My daughter got an honors acceptance yesterday and we are in state. She got her early action acceptance in November and it just said she would be getting a merit scholarship and she would get the final amount in March.
Yes, from the few posts I have seen it seems they were not as generous to the test optional oos applicants this year with merit. Hopefully the merit will boost to at least the in state tuition rate with the honors college admission. Fingers crossed.
My daughter received the at least $40k merit in her EA decision and then received the HC acceptance in December. She is top 3% of her class with a 4.6 GPA. We are also test optional and OOS. It looks like test optional did affect merit as those stats are above that scholarship level listed on their site from last year. Hopefully there will be more in the final award.
Very confused as I read though all the different circumstances.
OOS student top 1% of his class 1460 sat âŠ
86k in merit and no acceptance to honors college as of yet.
Starting to lose faith in the college process.
Hang in there! I believe the HC notices go out on Feb 15th. Your senior sounds like a strong candidate!
Did anyone else get an email from financial aid today? âAccessing Information About Your Financial Aid Onlineâ was the title.
Thereâs an ID and a link, but when my kid goes there, it says
âNo record found based on the entered values.â
Iâve double-checked his entries. Theyâre correct.
Received same. The financial aid award is not available yet. My understanding is that financial aid only communicates through sc email and self servicing portal. I think this was just the info to get it set up but we just have to wait and keep checking.
what is HC?
