@bluekou23 Not even sure where I read it at this point, but it said that UVA admissions has heard from high school guidance counselors that Friday afternoons are preferable for the students and they are sensitive to that so I guess it will now be next Friday if nothing happens today. Last year’s Thursday release was an anomaly, thought to be because of an impending snow storm. Not sure if this is still the case as I believe that information was from a few years ago that I read.
I thought that timing comment was just about them releasing it in afternoons so students are with their parents and not classmates. I didn’t know it had anything to do with it being Friday. Maybe there is still some hope for today.
@UVAHopeful543 It seems that she would have announced on her blog or twitter by now that decisions would be announced tonight. Though I appreciate your optimism!

Ugh this is so annoying… I have had 5 dreams about these gosh dang decisions within the past 3 days. I know that each applications needs thorough review, but for heavens sakes we can count the votes to elect a president quicker than kids can get admitted to college. This not directed at uva but just at colleges in general…

Well maybe it will be next Tuesday or Wednesday. Perhaps the class of 2021 will start a new trend of decisions being released during the week, as opposed to a Friday. It seems to me that if decisions are released in the later part of the day ( early evening) most students should be home and with family to view their decision. So I don’t necessarily see the difference between Friday and any other day of the week. Have a wonderful weekend!
@hcmom65 That’s what I was thinking. I only thought Friday because of past trends but it makes no sense as most students are home from school in the afternoon after 6 pm regardless of day of the week
Perhaps it’s just as well with today already being high in emotions. In addition to what’s happening in DC, this afternoon President Sullivan announced that she’ll be leaving soon. Let’s hope we don’t have another full week to wait but I’m sure we’re all glad they’re being very careful about reading the applications.
I think she said that they will release as soon as they are done, so I don’t think it has to be a Friday. They know everyone is very anxious and I think want to get the decisions out as soon as possible.
I do think they will wait until the end of the day however for lots of good reasons.

But schools like UVA get so many thousands of applications these days.
So it just takes a lot longer to throw all those files down the stairs and then to collect up the ones that fly the furthest.

This really is nerve wracking. Oh well, just 10 days to go till we KNOW we’re going to get a decision!
@jrkick64 They could always move back the date to February. I mean, they do have a lot more applications this year.
But that would be a serious bummer, as I would be receiving some regular decisions before an early action…
