I don’t want to get your hopes up so take my observation with a grain of salt. Since you applied to Foster I’m assuming you have a competitive gpa and a strong sense of focus in your transcript and personal statement. That alone is great. If you transfer from a WA CC with over 90 credits that also satisfy the UW reqs, especially the Areas of Knowledge, that would be even better. If you had all these stats, I’d say you have about a 60-70% chance of getting in. Because there’s always that personal statement that shows if you’re a mature person. Their “holistic” review is quite something.
I chose the School of Art, specifically the Design major that requires Autumn applications only. Out of paranoia I emailed the Office of admissions telling them I had a backup major even tho it wasn’t shown on my application. Perhaps you could do the same just to cover your bases.
I had over 100 WA CC credits that satisfy the UW Areas of Knowledge. I also have an Associate degree from my CC. But I heard an AA isn’t a crucial factor compared to the “transfer with over 90 credits” recommendation.
Oh and one more thing: my transcript showed an upward trend as well. I went from a 1.6 gpa to a 3.73 gpa within a year. I believe that was the cherry on top for my application.
Has anyone that received an offer from an engineering major received their general admission decision yet? I was admitted to CEE already and am waiting on UW general admission still… It’s killing me having to wait.
I checked my mailbox and I received my golden envelope. It was probably sent to me last week. So once the applicant is notified, they will probably sent you a mail as soon as possible.
@mireux I did exactly the same thing, for the same major, and also have 100+ WA CC credits. – Actually, it looks like if I pick UW I’ll be going with the backup Art BA. My advice is to make sure you take a look at the Art facilities before you decide on spending 3+ years in them…
@lookingxaround sounds like you’ve been through the whole ordeal at the School of Art. If I don’t get in the design major, I’m low key happy with the IVA degree as my backup. I know a professor back in my cc who took that major and she’s happy with her career, so I’m not too worried. It’s a good point to check on the facilities, though. I guess I’m just so settled on UW in general cuz I didn’t think I’d be admitted.
@mickyrivera a friend of mine just got his rejection letter the other day. I think it’s safe to say UW is on a roll with their transfer notification letters in May.
@Jimkick he didn’t tell me what exactly the gpa was (which is a sign itself) but what I remember him mentioning was low 3s and high 2s. Basically a downward trend. He is coming from the same WA CC as I am. Associate of Science degree (which isn’t the best compared to general AA). Applied for Physics major.
