UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON AUTUMN 2019 TRANSFER

@LeonorC I really hope more people hear back tomorrow! I still haven’t heard back either and it’s slowly getting difficult to be patient. Good luck

I just received an email about the Housing. I submitted my application and didn’t expect that it’s required to pay a $500 initial deposit. Is this fee only for the application alone or is it included in the quarterly housing fee?

And so we wait (again)

Good luck everyone hope you all get in today!

Are we sure that the general admission will release a big wave by tody?

it will probably be the end of the month, but who really knows

12:00pm PST and there were crickets… let’s hope for later this afternoon

No news is good news, right? ?

False. I got my decision after literally everyone else the last time I applied. Decisions started around late November and I got my decision December 23rd. In my experience the longer you’re waiting the least likely it is you got in.

But how does you getting a late decision mean it’s less likely for everyone to get accepted…? @kimetsunoyaiba That doesn’t make sense. In fact, doesn’t it kind of show proof of the contrary? That you were still able to get in after a long time of waiting, which possibly shows they just do it in waves?

it depends on if they rolling admissions or not. Some schools just want to fill spots so they will admit later and not send any rejections just to get money.

Thus far it does seem like they do rolling admissions. I don’t understand the logic behind “It’s probably unlikely you’ll get in when it’s a month in, even though I got in after waiting a month.” That just shows that they do give out admissions at later dates, unless that person believes they were a single exception.

Oh my mistake, that person never said if they were accepted/rejected. I don’t know, then. Though past evidence seems to suggest they do it in waves, so there’s no reason to give up hope so soon. I don’t even think it’s been a month yet.

The UW reviews everyone’s application and then sorts them into piles based on their strength of application. Then they send out acceptances to those that they “want the most” first, and similarly send out rejections to applications that are the weakest. The only people I know who have have gotten in so far are excellent students with high gpas and an eclectic mix of extracurriculars. It is the same at most schools who do rolling admissions.

i know thats not true because i have friends who got in already and had lower gpas and less extracurricular then me. i really think its random and department based

I was rejected. And I’m not saying that’s the way it is. I’m saying that is my experience.

anyone know what time acceptances come out?

3:00 PST
No clue, just a hopeful guess.

Maybe before 5:00 PST?

Just fyi, all decisions will not be out by today. Whoever it was in the admissions department that said that all decisions would go out by the 29th was mistaken. If you don’t receive an acceptance today, it doesn’t mean you’ve been rejected. Summer quarter applicants may not even hear back till end of next week.

Edited: Also, there is no rhyme or reason to how UW sends out acceptances. It’s not strictly by major, it doesn’t matter when you submitted your application, it’s not alphabetically, it’s not by GPA, and it’s not by quarter (summer vs fall). It’s really annoying, but that’s the way it is.
