@yazanmaini Did you see an update your myUW? I haven’t received my decision letter and I’m getting worried
@CollegeIsBigOof I didn’t see any update on my myUW, but the email said, “You will receive more information from the Office of Admissions next week”.
Hey guys! I got my admission letter at about 6pm today. Stats:
Applied for biochemistry
Transferring from an out-of-state, 4 year university.
Over 90 quarter credits
GPA: 3.35
Any Political Science Majors around here? I’m an international applicant and haven’t heard any thing back.
This wait is just killing me XD
And congrats to those of you who got in!
Did anyone hear back from informatics yet? If CSE is sending out decisions, does it mean informatics gonna do it soon?
Hey! CSE major that also just got in :)) curious-are people applying for on campus housing? Also anyone know if you are required to have a special meal plan if you are living in the residence halls? Thanks!
I just got in AHHHHHHHHHHH!
CSE!!!
I faced double obstacles: I’m out-of-state and international! Funny thing is, I just applied to a bunch of top CS school without knowing beforehand how competitive they are. I don’t have a 4.0. My stats are just mediocre: 3.89 cumulative and 3.85 technical.
Another funny thing is, yesterday, at 4.09 pm, I received the offer email. Then 10 mins later, I received a rejection one. You know at that moment, I was so damn frustrated that when I called the admissions office, I accidentally cursed when they put me on hold. But later they confirmed my admission so your boy is good! The reason for the rejection email, according to them, was because I had
My advice to y’all: DON’T GIVE UP! IF YOU DON’T GET IN, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE TO CHASE AFTER YOUR DREAM.
I applied to a bunch of schools, and was rejected massively. UMass-Amherst, UMD, UCSD, etc. But I got into the best ones. That shows how random college admissions can be.
A side-note: I think my application essay is what gave me the admission. I don’t have the best stats, but I’m actually disabled. I wrote about how my disability affected my academics and how I rose beyond my situation. I have the motivation to pursue this career in an industry where there is a large underrepresentation of people with disabilities.
I feel sorry for those perfect 4.0s who did not get in. I feel like UW really cares about my situation, and my unique circumstance is what makes me got in
@gohuskies405 Hey man! Congrats!! I’m assuming you got into biochem too? Hope i get in since im from oos/foreign 4-year uni too
@daftcat poli sci major here, still waiting. I’m concerned that the classes I need are going to all be full by the time I get an answer…
@sylviermoone I applied for communication and haven’t heard anything either. I was worried about the same thing so I called the communication department and an advisor told me not to expect to get any classes that I want. He said some classes have a few spots reserved for transfer students, but definitely not enough to go around and to have low expectations. Pretty sure that applies to all majors and not just communication, but I’m not positive.
@Oliy249 ugh, that’s unfortunate. I’m hoping to double major and need to cover some pre-reqs in the fall. I can finish in two years, but only if I can get into those courses in the fall.
Has anyone here gotten an email from the UW-IT services center concerning their ye netid account?
UW net ID*
@Oliy249 i applied as a communication major as well and haven’t heard anything. you didn’t apply directly for the major though did you? cause you have to be a uw student before u can apply
@ee9999 no, for communication we apply during the first week of school.
Correction: I confirmed with admissions again, and apparently I was indeed rejected from CSE. That rejection letter was for CSE. I was actually accepted to the alternate major in biochem. Sorry for the rant above. I’m going to cry now!
Does anyone know how to appeal a decision?
@LilacSoul Thanks! Do you know the chance of appealing?
