UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON AUTUMN 2019 TRANSFER

I think I’m in! My transcript loaded as PRE SOCIAL SCIENCE and I’m able to accept the offer of admission. However, I haven’t received any email and my transfer portal hasn’t changed. I hope everyone still waiting gets to hear good news soon.

Tried to transfer from UCSB, got rejected just now. I’m not too disappointed because I like it there. Good luck everyone!!

My unofficial transcript loaded

Hi, I’ve been following this discussion for a while but I called today and they confirmed that ALL decisions would go out by the 30th !

I’m still waiting on a decision but for reference I’m out of state with a 3.4 at time of applying!

Congrats, @miles2019!!!

Accepted!!

I applied for business but I got in pre-major

GPA: 3.87
CCC student

Hey what does it mean when u say ur transcript loaded but not ur portal?? Where did U find this??

Just checked, still no decision, offer to accept, or transcript loaded. NOT rejected yet.

Here’s a little on my background in case it helps anyone:

For those that missed my situation I described earlier, I was accepted last year for general admission at UW, but couldn’t attend since I was in the hospital for months.

I have an AA degree from an out of state school, and I’ve been taking classes at a Seattle community college for the last two years (different area of study than my AA degree). I have a 3.6 GPA.

I was rejected in the last two weeks from my first and second choice majors. It especially hurts because I have great intern experiences in the fields I applied to major in.

I can’t take any more classes for credit at my Seattle community college, since I’ve taken every single one that I can. I have 130 or so credits, nothing I can take outside of UW would count toward those majors. My education is dead in the water if I’m not accepted to UW. I can’t afford another university in Seattle and I’m not moving out of Seattle to go to another school.

Let me know if I’m whining, but maybe it will help someone. I’ll apply in the winter if I don’t get in, but if I don’t get in during the winter I’ll have to go to a trade school or something. I can’t afford financially to extend my eventual graduation another year. I’ve done the math.

There are a lot of good schools in Washington that are much cheaper than UW. There are also the other UW campuses. Why not consider other options? Why does it have to be UW? @Doorido

@Doorido, I looked back and read your earlier posts. I’m not sure what your financial situation is, but if you’re Pell eligible, with your GPA, your cost of attendance at Seattle U wouldn’t be anywhere near what you’re assuming. As a pell eligible transfer student with a 3.2 GPA, the total grants and scholarships I was offered covered nearly 75% of tuition. Further, every transfer student with a GPA of 3.2 or higher receives a merit based scholarship. IIRC, a 3.6 is going to get you ~10K annually in scholarship funding. Washington residents (or maybe it was just WA CC students; either way you’re covered) have the application fee waived by default at Seattle U, as well.

I can’t speak to any other private universities, but I’d be surprised to hear that they weren’t offering similar financial packages. If a 4 year degree is your goal, I just think you’re doing yourself a real disservice if you don’t fully check all your options. Yes, on paper a private school appears more expensive than the UW, but once you figure in grants and scholarships, it’s much more reasonable.

Seattle U accepts transfer applications until August, and they’re processed on a rolling basis.

Thank you LilacSoul and Sylviermoone. That is helpful, and I’m certainly considering this route.

I have a family that I need to support, and I have a scholarship with a stipend that affords me the ability to go to school and pay the bills. The requirement is that I go to a public school though. And as far as travel goes, I have a reliable vehicle but I cant afford to spend 2 hours in traffic a day. So that rules out Tacoma and Bothell, as well as satellite campuses. I guess I could go through the local community colleges that offer 4-year degrees, but they dont offer my majors. It’s a unique situation, I know.

Thanks again.

You can just apply again in winter if you’re not accepted into fall. Be sure you’re almost aggressive in your personal statement about how much you need UW-Seattle because that is what they are looking for in transfer students–people who NEED them. They are an extremely holistic school. Keep trying.

That totally makes sense @Doorido. I agree with @kimetsunoyaiba’s suggestion; if you need to reapply in the winter, make sure you are aggressive in sharing your need. It might be worth considering appealing for the fall, as well. This certainly seems like the kind of unique need based situation that they pride themselves in accommodating.

Very true. I was second guessing how forward my personal statement was until I was accepted. I was very honest with them about my upbringing and challenges.

After my unofficial transcript loaded yesterday afternoon, I checked my portal around 8:30pm and saw my acceptance letter on my portal!
I’m an out of state student from CA
Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.7

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Did anyone hear back today?

Absolutely nothing!

@bwc7243 nope

Is anyone else still waiting to hear back? I’m so anxious it literally the 30th

I seriously doubt there are any decisions going out over the weekend. I presume a big drop will happen Monday/Tuesday.
