After long nights of contemplation, I’ve finally narrowed down my college choices to two options that cost relatively the same (price is not really a big factor because of this). I can see myself being happy at both institutions so in the end it comes down to which school will give me the most opportunities, and best prepare me for a successful career in the field of business (currently interested in finance but this may change). I’m drawn to Richmond’s smaller class sizes, but this is more of a slight preference and is not really a big deal for me. However, something that somewhat concerns me is the lack of diversity at Richmond. I’ve scoured post-undergraduate statistics and school rankings and have not been able to really find anything substantial in influencing my decision. I could really use some more insight.

With respect to an important aspect of the University of Richmond that may pertain to your question, it offers a financial aid policy that’s pretty rare. That is, the school doesn’t consider ability to pay as an admission criterion, and it meets the full demonstrated need of those accepted. In that this may reflect its general atmosphere, you’d likely find that UR offers a reasonably diverse, welcoming experience.
University of Washington Foster School of Business placement is outstanding–#1 for percentage of MBA grads in full time job within 3 months of graduation. The undergraduate business school has strong placement as well.
Seattle is an amazing city with tremendous career opportunities.
you get to discover an entirely different part of the country for roughly the same cost as staying a home. Hard to ass up in my view.
you can only attend an undergraduate focused university for your undergraduate years. There’ll be PLENTY of time to attend a large public university when you’re in graduate/professional school.
Plus, since you’re from the state of Washington you can always go back to Seattle at any point - Richmond is a one shot deal. If you don’t take it now it’s gone.
