UofR is my dream school!

Hi guys! I'm currently a junior, (will be a senior in September), and i am determined to attend UofR! I scheduled a campus tour for next month, and i can't wait! I was wondering if anyone currently attends, or knows someone who does and could share the experience with me? This is my dream school and i hope i get accepted when the time comes! Any information is much appreciated :)

What would you like to know? :)

How’s life on campus? and is the school as amazing as i think it is? :)

I think you should poke around the threads that already exist. You’ll see a wide variety of discussion, from arts to sports to weather to research and so on.

I personally really like it. I guess it depends on the personality, but everybody is generally really nice and the academics are great. A lot of the professor’s I’ve met here are really smart and passionate about what they teach. I’ve developed great respect for my professors and in fact, some of my classmates and I still keep in touch!

We’re all nerdy in our own ways, but we also like to have fun. Work hard, play hard is what a lot of people abide by. Also, if you have strong interests or you like to explore different things in different fields, then this is a great place to be. It’s also been a nice year in terms of weather, but we’ll see how it goes this year!

The biggest complaints so far is the lack-of social life but I wholeheartedly disagree. I think a very small percent of people are just nervous to approach each other. While many people are shy, they are really friendly here and refreshingly quirky. It’s not impossible to make friends here, but you should put yourself out there and get active if you want to make a lot of friends. Get involved in clubs, talk to people in your hall or class, or even just somebody who’s ordering coffee in Starbucks. We don’t bite. XD

Overall, I cannot emphasize enough that your experience is what you make of it. There is really nothing remotely bothersome that can get in your way of achieving anything.

If you have any questions in mind, please don’t hesitate! Good luck with HS and enjoy your summer! :D

Man, if half the people there are half as nice as ninjapie, it sounds great. My son will be visiting UR this summer or early fall. We’ve heard nothing but good things about it from friends and associates in Rochester.

People are nice at UR.
