^I mean they only have limited housing, so the target class size is fairly set in stone.

^that would make sense

The article was a bummer:(. Though I know that the chance is pretty limited, the article seems to be a warning asking me to give up this fantasy of getting into Penn right now.

@Oscarlany: Congrats on Amherst!!! That’s an awesome school, hope you have a great four-year-experience!

Ok, fellow purgatory inmates, here’s some scenario that might happen during the summer melt:
- Enrolled Penn students get off some tippy top school’s waitlist, and decided to enroll there.
- Some decided to defer their admission so that they can have a gap year.
- Some had the extreme case of buyers’ remorse, decided that Penn is the wrong choice, and committed somewhere else.
- Penn rescinds some acceptances due to falling grades / other disciplinary cases (which I hope doesn’t happen - that’s horrible)

All four scenarios are of low probability, I think. Yeeep. I think I’m gonna see myself out of the waitlist line.

No harm in staying on the list while moving forward with your life.

Unless that is your plan while encouraging others to come off the list.

well according to that article, we’ll find out at the end of this week/beginning of next. i just really want this whole thing to be over with and just get a final decision

@Madaboutx haha no, I wasn’t trying to discourage anyone ok, read my post and it does seem that way.

Let me rephrase: realistically speaking, the chances are low - but yeah, there’s nothing wrong with staying in the waitlist. I do plan on taking myself off if there’s no decision by next week because I don’t think I want this as much as you guys do.

Oh, and sorry guys didn’t mean to be a sly downer with my previous post. Don’t give up yet.

^'s all good Chances are they will be taking no one from the waitlist, but hey - who knows…

mmmmmm any intl waitlistees?

I’m an international waitlistee! I’ve been accepted to Duke though - I’ve visited and it is amazing - so although I am hoping to get off the waitlist here, I’m not sure if I would actually switch over to Penn. Anyone else get accepted elsewhere comparable to Penn? (I’m not being elitist, I just want to understand other peoples’ dilemmas)

I’m intl too!

@AndyPandy holy freak congrats on Duke!! (I sometimes wish I had applied… just to see what will happen, though I prolly won’t get in) To answer your question - I’m admitted to Hopkins BME, and I feel the same way as you do. I still like Penn… but obviously Penn doesn’t want me that badly in the first place har har.

Guys, I wrote a LOCI but I’m afraid to send in D: I fell in love with Penn when I visited and i always knew i wanted to go ever since i was little and I don’t want to feel dissapointed again.Should I send it in? Sigh. This is so stressful

Duuude, send it in @nhiyenvo You already wrote it! 'Sides, I think you’ll regret it more if you didn’t at least try. If it ultimately came to a bitter end, then hey - you have tons of friends here who you can mourn with. Disappointment is a part of life ;)

Yeah! International too. I really want a positive response, haha! Good luck to all! I’m sure that the admissions department is more than qualified to make the best choices off of the wait list. :D

I am international too. Got admitted to Washu BME (ranked No.14 in case people don’t know, suffering from this problem these days; made me frustrated)
@AndyPandy congrats on your admittance to Duke! If I were you, I probably wouldn’t even choose to stay on the waitlist as Duke is acutally my dream school. I applied for ED, was deferred and then rejected.
@accioknight The online reply is closed and probably you cannot choose but to stay on the waitlist until you find out the result.

@DarkFlame Oh well. I’ll just wait then (I’m curious anyway). Congrats on WashU btw!!! I get how you feel about people underestimating your school… I have people throwing me this look of pity and consoling me because I ‘only’ got into Hopkins. Sometimes I just wanted to scream ‘IT’S MY DREAM SCHOOL!!!’ just so people understand…

Okay I’ll send it. Should I send it in an email or an email attachment with the word document? And how should I sign it off so my admissions officer knows it’s me?

Attach your LOCI as a word document to the email. I wrote my full name + birth date in the document’s header, so maybe that’s enough?

@accioknight That’s an annoying issue that intls suffer. People in our countries have limited knowledge about awesome American schools. Hardly can a layperson name all the ivies. JHU is indeed a great school and has a lot in common with Washu, including the name problem. Congrats on your admittance!

so we should be hearing back on monday?

My best friend just got in off the waitlist!!!
