UPenn ED Class of 2023

What are everyone’s second choice schools? Trying to think about the many other schools I love throughout these ten days so I can remain positive and truly believe that I will end up where I was meant to.

Also, this time in ten days I will be FREAKING OUT! So I am trying to enjoy the peace of mind I have right now (even though I’m still suuuuper nervous at the moment)

@CCTA334 These subject test are only recommended, not required. Here it is straight from their website: “SAT Subject Tests are recommended but not required. Applicants who do not take SAT Subject Tests will not be at a disadvantage in the admissions process.”
It would be helpful to have scored well on the Physics if you took it, but since you didn’t take it, don’t worry since the decision is likely already made and there’s nothing you can do now.

Hey, of course you’re going to be at a disadvantage in terms of scores when you’re compared to someone with a great Physics subject score and an A in their respective class. However, in the holistic grand scheme of things where your essays and other things come into play, will it matter too much? Definitely not.

@kindablue @asianfu I got an A in my physics class and a 5 on the mechanics AP, I just didnt take the test because our class only went up to mechanics and the test goes farther than that.

Would I still be at a disadvantage now?

You already stated that in your original question. I believe that it will not be a big factor in whether you were denied/deferred/accepted, but it would have helped your application to have scored well, had you taken the test. Since you haven’t taken it, don’t worry. They can’t hold it against you. Again, it is only recommended. You have already shown you can do well in physics, so don’t think that not having the subject test will make or break you.

Ahhhhh ten days will whiz by! Good luck everyone<3

I’ll disagree with with being at a disadvantage if submitting a comparable score in bio or chem, but yes, scores are just one part of the application.

@bichon_frise99 its a really annoying way of referring to one’s son or daughter, typically used by mothers on this forum. This is in response to your question about what DS/DD meant.

I’m honestly super nervous to hear back because I applied to Wharton and I have great grades and a great ACT score but little experience in the field of business (took a business course over the summer and participate in an economics extracurricular at my school).

i bet this thread is gonna blow up come decision day XD

I logged on to the penn portal and the tweet on the right says that 1,044 Finalists matched through questbridge. Does that mean that a lot less students will be accepted ED?

@ripcollegeapps 1,044 finalists were matched TOTAL, meaning to the 40 participating Questbridge colleges. Typically, Penn matches around 30-80 scholars, so no, it will have no effect on how many students will be accepted ED.

I just had a mini heart attack and checked but its just amount of total quest bridge finalists who matched, not just to Penn. Penn probably didn’t even have 50 im guessing

Oh ok thank god cause I got really scared for a second.

guys that’s like half the freshman class…

49 matched to UPenn via Questbridge. They are allowing finalists to apply ED still if they like, though, so that’s likely to go up some.

Penn had 49 Questbridge matches.

how do u all know it had 49? Did the daily pennsylvanian release something?

Okayyy so 7pm ET on Dec 13 is in the early morning of December 14th where I am, and I happen to have an exam that day. (its math rip). Do you guys think I should open it in the morning to relieve myself of the suspense or should i wait till i finish my exam?
