December 13 at 7 p.m. ! Ten days to go!
It’s official guys!!
I applied to UPenn this fall early decision and I was just wondering if anybody knows when exactly Early decision comes back. I know that it’s in the ball park of mid December, but for someone reason literally no websites that I can find tell me when I’ll get the decision back. The applicant portal is equally unhelpful. Anybody know?
Email from Penn:
We will post admissions decisions for Early Decision applicants on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Your decision can be viewed by visiting your Penn Applicant Portal.
Finally.
Just got an email saying this. Good luck everyone!
AHHHHHHH DECEMBER 13th!! Did anyone else just get a massive pit in their stomach
Oh lord…just got so nervous
Ten days guys…good luck
you already know i set up a countdown but hey boys!! we rlly out here good luck to everyone
Did anybody else’s email say “We have enjoyed getting to know you through this process”?
@EmotionalRedbox Yes, everyone’s did.
Great-- thanks I’m so excited!
tbh math is not a particularly popular major, as pure math is not the best here. but applied math in terms of using high level math in related areas, particularly finance, are really good. Department is growing, they now have a graduate program in applied and computational math. Also there is alot of growth in data science/statistics which is is what im focusing on., Classes as a whole at penn are pretty easy to get into unless you dont apply for classes on time. @elena719
also dont believe alot what you hear about internal transfer, its actually pretty easy to do.
Yay, 10 more days! I can’t wait to get my decision then watch Mary Poppins Returns the week after!
@Inxight, Thank you!
My DS thinks he’s most interested in pure math. He took an intro to number theory course and fell in love. He also fell in love with Penn when he visited. So… I hope pure math isn’t too bad there at the undergrad level. Honestly, Penn pure math might be perfectly fine if it’s “not the best” as DS isn’t a prodigy or extremely advanced. He’s doing Calc BC this year. That said, can you elaborate on what you mean? Does pure math at Penn have glaring deficits as compared to similarly ranked universities? Burned out professors? Lack of options?
Well… I’m 10 days im gonna have to rip off that band aid that’s been keeping me sane for the past 3 years and either imma bleed out and die or I’ll be fine… guess we’ll just have to wait to find out
no by no means is it bad, just not as good as say uchicago, MIT, Princeton, Caltech, but overall its good for math. What im saying is that penn really shines in the applied department, where its applied math in finance, stats, and data science etc are top notch if not the best. Pure math here is still great @elena719
I applied ED for Penn engineering but I didnt take SAT Physics. I took AP Physics in school and got an A and a 5 on the mechanics AP, but since the class only went up to mechanics, I didn’t take the physics test. The engineering website says physics is recommended, and a lot of times recommended means required. Am I going to be at a disadvantage now?
Very helpful. Thanks, @Inxight!
All: 10-day countdown to a possible future! I feel a little nauseous, but also extremely grateful and humbled that my DS had the opportunity to apply to such a great school, as well as the other great schools on his list. We are very lucky to have access to so many excellent choices. I wish everyone the best of luck and happiness, no matter what your futures hold.
