Why bother the admissions office when you don’t need to? Plus, it would be a little awkward for them to tell you that you were rejected (not saying that’s going to be your outcome, just a possibility) over the phone… @collegeboi2023
i’m so nervous! keeping a countdown on my phone… 4 days and 19 hours left
Anyone know if upenn wants to take rare majors? I’m an architecture major with a really good portfolio for it. Stats and scores r top tier but my school mad competitive
Just wanna see the result Rn lol
I feel like I am not as worried about the result (I am, but I could work with it) but more of the social pressure after results like teachers and friends and just people in general, so I am just trying to stay positive as much as I can and as long as I can
lol guys calm down, my mom’s like “it’ll be weird if you actually get in” to me and I feel like it’s just a gamble. There’s also a guy from my school whose literally an OVERACHIEVER that I think has even academically surpassed some undergrads (and also with a huge physical hook) but was directly rej by Stanford this weekend. and there’s also someone I heard from my friends with a 13xx that got into Duke or some other top school. The point is life is a game guys, enjoy yourself, don’t let a college’s decision get you panick!
I remember you are applying to DMD program. Guys have better chances than girls for this program. Best of luck!
The closer decision day comes, the more impulsively I check this chat lmaoo. Is anyone else checking their status alone? I’m too scared to do it in front of my parents
im gonna open it with my friend and probably gonna film it
AHHHH im so nervous! Do you guys know how admissions officers view students with disabilities? Is there any advantage or disadvantage?
I’m opening my status with my sister and also filming it. There’s no way I’m opening it with my parents — I even told them that decisions come out on the 14th so that they wouldn’t bother me about it lol
i’m opening mine alone too! if i had friends next to me, it would be awkward if (when) i get rejected haha
I’m checking mine alone too because it feels like such a personal thing to me and I don’t want to worry about anyone’s reaction but my own
This is just a general thing I’ve been noticing, but when people ask for other people’s stats, they are meaningless without that person’s race. So if we want to ask about eachother’s stats, instead of saying “@____________, what are your stats”, we should ask “what are your stats and demographics?”
Cuz for an asian, a 1510 is pretty much trash, but for a black/hispanic its their ticket in, regardless of other factors (not my words, from a verified AO).
And if you get accepted to Penn and enroll, or if you opt to attend another university, once you step foot on that campus as a freshman, almost nobody will ask for your stats.
@skieurope I understand that, I’m just saying for the purpose of this thread and related threads, because I do notice people asking (I myself have been asked too) for other people’s stats as a way to gauge competitiveness. But you absolutely cannot gauge that competitiveness without race. Because its all in relativity. A rich, well-off African American with a 1450 could easily take a university seat over a poor Asian with a 1570.
OK. But my opinion is that the whole “chance me” thing is a pointless parlor game. Nobody here is qualified to chance without seeing the whole package. And that goes double for HS students who weigh in. YMMV.
someone asked this before, but the question wasn’t answered. does the video play on mobile if you got in??
@googy2323 this was actually a great read, thanks for sharing
Found this article today about the effects of rejection on brain chemistry. The coolest thing, if true, is that you can mitigate the effects by taking acetaminophen before opening up that portal page!

Damn college apps are really getting to us @elena719
