debate partner just got into Cornell; the pressure’s started to come on.
International student here (I asked for a lot of financial aid so not expecting much) @Nicolas Diaz
Where are you from? Ecuador, so pretty underrepresented. Don’t know how much that can help though
@Caookies I bought an xbox one and all 3 modern warfares, been playing through the campaign relentlessly
I have finals this week, so I’m attempting to study for those right now…RIP
Wait, me being the paranoid person I am. I looked at the source code for the portal website. If you guys go home on the penn portal, look at the page source. Go to the elements tab. Type “accepted” “rejected” and “deferred” “congratulations” into contol + F. What do you guys see. How many results show for each. look at the bottom where it says 1 of 1 or something. I did this on chrome.
i am a ball of anxiety
@johnrbert21 well, what do you see?
@johnrbert21 mine has a bunch of results for deferred, and none for accepted/rejected.
Hey, commenting here from the Princeton SCEA Applicant thread! I’ve noticed people trying to figure out hints at their decisions early…just chill people. You’re going to know your decision in literally 3 days. If you waited 17 (or 18) years of your existence, you can wait just a few days more. Hacking is a serious thing and trying to find out your decision early can actually penalize you, so why risk it? Also, don’t you think Ivy League Tech champs probably put loads of precautions on their portals just in case they’d get the desperate applicant as displayed here?
I’m just as nervous as the next Ivy League ED/EA applicant. I’ve tried to focus on my school work and other distractions instead of my pending decision. Maybe even write down a list of your proudest accomplishments? Focus in the present, not the future (at least just for these next few days). Everyone will end up where they’re supposed to. I wish all of you the best of luck!!!
same, i have two results for deferred. @johnrbert21 , Penn is not stupid. They are not going to let their decisions be visible to applicants by a simple “inspect element” query. They probably haven’t even exported their decisions to the portal yet. Everyone, please stop with the “inspect element” posts. You’re making everyone anxious, and to be frank, for zero benefit.
^^^ TELL EM
Lol looking at source code isn’t hacking my dude but yea ur right they def have a lot of precautions. I see 2 results for deferred 3 for congratulations and 0 for accepted or rejected. I guess this really means nothing.
@johnrbert21 which is my point. Looking at source code is not hacking the website. The source code IS the website. Penn would not post the decisions on the website at this time. Which means the decisions will not be in the source code. End of discussion. Everyone else, you are safe to ignore any posts that have the words “inspect element”. Disregard them completely and good luck as we all wait until Thursday.
A bunch of admitted Harvard MBAs got rejected for this very same thing 15 years ago (playing around with the admissions portal to find a url embedded in the source to view their admissions decision): https://www.computerworld.com/article/2568748/cybercrime-hacking/harvard-rejects-business-school-applicants-who-hacked-site.html
i’m just rewatching the office over and over again so i can stop panicking slkjfsdf
@alpacatama YESSS THE OFFICE
Hey guys. This is pretty urgent. Some people are saying that when they search video in the inspect element of the penn portal, they get a bunch of results under “penn.css”, followed by play/pause button and youtube share link and stuff. Can anyone confirm this to be true? I just checked my portal and it wasn’t there.
@CCTA334 i was wondering the exact same
don’t worry about it just wait 2 more days u got this. i was tempted to try to do all of that at first but first of all, you don’t know if that has any repercussions against you and I don’t want to risk it and second of all, none of us have any idea of what any of the inspect elements will really mean for 100% certainty so i don’t see any good point as to to all of that. just be patient, 2 days is nothing compared to our 4 years of high school
