Which school is a better experience and has better job opportunites? For NU, economics or MMSS, for Penn CAS.

"Penn, obviously" said the Penn graduate. ;)

I think this is truly a visit-and-see-which-one-appeals-to-you-more, and you have to make this based on gut feel. I had to make the same agonizing choice 20 years ago :-). I chose NU / MMSS, but could have easily been happy with Penn too. I think they attract generally similar students. Penn's more immediately urban with more of a gritty city feel; NU's more suburban but with Chicago right there. You couldn't go wrong with either, though. Good luck!

They're both prestigious, with Penn having a slight edge.. but, it really depends who you ask.
Visit.

What is NU? Northeastern?

^ Northwestern, I assume.

Quaker or a Mildcat? Kind of a toss up for me. It would prob depend on which gave better financial aid.

How many times have I told you it's spelled as Wildcat, not Mildcat? How was the game against the Wildcats last weekend?

^ Umm, no comment...:D

^ What, does he go to Purdue or something? If you do, then we mildly kicked your arse didn't we :) At any rate, sure we've been mild in the past, but hey if a 6-1 record isn't wild, I don't know what is.

As for the OP's question, go where your heart tells you.

6-1 record and ranked #22 in the country.

Yeah, I'm also pretty sure it's the Northwestern "W"ildcats.

I agree with Post #3's advice to visit both schools & you will know. Either degree is valuable, although sometimes the more specialized the better.

Nope...Sam was referring to the Arizona Wildcats, the team my Cal Bears played last weekend.

Does Cougar Vs Bear - Video describe how they did last weekend? ;)

lol, how about wharton v. NU mmss?

Penn has better job opportunities...you can't beat the recruiting possibilities that arise in large part thanks to Wharton. Not to mention the Ivy branding in general reigns supreme when you're trying to find a job. A lot of this, however, is also very regional. NU has a better name in the Midwest, Penn has a better name in the East. You'll find a better alumni network/connections depending on the school/region. First, of course, you'll have to get into them. :)

MMSS is more selective than Wharton...it only takes like twenty kids per year!

i was actually kinda joking about NU mmss v. wharton (i would take wharton anyday)

2-iron, not sure you're correct on the selectivity part. I'm pretty sure MMSS is easier to get into, both percentage-wise and self-selectivity wise.

njazn, lol creepinn. actually i think penn has a better name here (among smart ppl at least). and yes, i do have to get into both first haha. damn.

this is a no-brainer in favor of Penn.

Both are great schools with powerhouse Econ departments. I would chose NU over Penn because I prefer Chicago to Philadelphia.

this is a no-brainer in favor of Northwestern. :P
