thanks! @Winky1 @psudickinson
Has anyoneâs kid received any emails from Pitt informing them that they qualify for various scholarships? If anyone has been waiting for these, my D did receive info. on 3 separate scholarships that seem to be local that she apparently qualified for. Her name was given to the specific scholarship groups, and she got the info. today. They are all due within the first week or two of March, though. She is excited to have received these extra opportunities! Hope you received them as well!
I applied 9/26, accepted 10/13. I got 25k/year for OOS. 1550 SAT, 6 APs, 2 dual enrollment, ranked 3/380ish. I also got 2k/year from the school of engineering because I am considered underrepresented as a female in engineering. Super excited!! H2P
I donât know if I should submit my cost analysis form now or later. I filled out the form and discovered I have competitive offers from 2 other schools, but I am still waiting for 2 more schoolsâ scholarships that may be even better offers and I know they will come in March. I know that the financial aid deadline is March 1, but at the same time merit is different from need⊠do you think Pitt will run out of money for me if I submit my cost analysis sheet in late March/early April? help!
From what I have heard, the next round will be released towards the end of March. At that point I would expect they have committed all their funds.
They seem to do this in waves. Just speculating, but I wonder if there is a review committee that meets at a certain fixed frequency. But the wave in January got released earlier than the date they committed to. So I wouldnât wait too long.
When we submitted the cost analysis in January, the other offer was much lower ($10,000 less or so) and yet they didnât move our aid though someone else with the same offer from the same school did get more aid - but it only brought them up to the level my S was at already. The tone of the note was that the class was competitive and thatâs where my S lands. So, I wonder if they have a max in mind and there is a point of diminishing returns.
Suggest you go with what you have.
I think you are probably correct @BoroDad, unless there is a unusual situation with a particularly high achieving or highly desirable student.
@Winky1 Fair point. Always leverage the hooks!
@smalltownpal Suggest you call OAFA and ask.
@hailtopitt1787 any other suggestions?
Being the completely unhooked NJ family now, itâs easy to forget that when I applied we were almost zero EFC, single parent, first generation to attend college - and that did make a huge difference, putting even the private schools in play.
If you would like to submit a Cost Analysis, I do not recommend waiting. Please give our office a call if you have any specific questions about the process. Our Enrollment Services Managers can provide more information and help you determine whether it makes sense for you to submit the form: 412-624-7488.

Has all merit money been given out at Pitt? D accepted, OOS, high SAT, high class rank, many ECs but still no offers of merit. No offer of Honors either though recd Honors College at 3 other schools with significant merit offered at those schools. We cannot send her at full cost so does anyone know if any further money will be extended? If not, we will cross off our list. TIA.
@mygirlsxs2 â1480 (or within 10 or so of that range) is the published test score threshold for Pitt merit = high GPA/rank. Is your student at that threshold? If lower, it is doubtful there will be merit from Pitt.
From watching this thread it appears all merit has been given out with the exception of some of the submitted cost analysis forms that have been sent in and are still waiting on a response.
Hello!
All merit aid has been awarded at this point. The Cost Analysis process is still open, for eligible candidates.
If you are wondering if you are eligible for cost analysis, your best bet would be to call our office and discuss: 412-624-7488.

We are currently in the cost analysis process. Our email stated a decision would be made by March 31st. Is there any hope for a decision sooner? Yes, I know we should just be patient, but we all know how hard it is to wait! Our request was submitted close to the end of February.
@hailtopitt1787 Thank you for all of you attention to these threads. Your answers are helpful and it is nice to know they come from a credible source. Thank you to all of the parents with good advice as well!
@Hope2beapittmom, I am not sure how long it is taking the cost analysis committee to review requests. Unfortunately, I cannot give you a more accurate estimate than you already have. They are working hard to get back to people as quickly as possible. Best of luck!

Thanks! We will continue waiting with crossed fingers!
Anyone heard back on cost analysis recently? We submitted it two weeks ago. No word yet except for the immediate acknowledgment of the request.
Someone posted up thread that decisions would be made by March 31st?
OOS son $15k. 35 ACT. 1540 SAT. 4.0/4.7. Plus several APs.
Just logged into Dâs portal & found she has been awarded an additional $10K per year, for a total of $25 per year. Very very excited at this news - this basically brings Pitt back into play for her. Itâs been one of her faves since we visited.
ETA: we submitted a cost analysis 4-6 weeks ago
@GertrudeMcFuzz what were your daughterâs stats and what schools did you use for cost analysis?
Wow! ! 3 cheers for @GertrudeMcFuzz !! hip, hip, hooray!
