Upitt merit scholarship results 2022

@JMRome - 3.8 UW, 1540, NMF, 9 aps all 5s, OOS (Calif)

Also got $5k more after second cost analysis. Total $15k now. Now one of the best offers.

OOS NJ 35 ACT 3.9 GPA

Go BoroDad! !!

That is awesome, @BoroDad and @GertrudeMcFuzz. Iā€™m hoping for more for my Dā€¦but nothing showing yet. :frowning: We did our cost analysis on March 9, got confirmation of it on March 12. What schools did you use for comparison?

Alsoā€¦did you get e-mail notifications or letters that your response was ready, or did you just log on to your Pitt portal at random? I heard they were sending out letters this week.

@JMRome Neitherā€¦it was this thread !! I saw @GertrudeMcFuzz had logged in a checked aid (Thanks GMcFuzz)

Our first analysis with Arizona was not helpful though someone else was bumped to the same award as us $10k so perhaps some kind of ceiling? The second round was Minn-TC with $10k (about same at Pitt) but also a full tuition scholarship to Stony Brook.

The crazy partā€¦if Pitt had awarded $15-20k at the start, my son wouldā€™ve committed in November. It was because Pitt was lower than we had hoped initially that he added schools and so now were back to Pitt plus a few.

Same here with my D, @BoroDad. Our biggest concern is her medical school costs beyond undergrad. She would love to do PItt medical school too. She is just trying to make the best decision both academically and financially in light of that. We used U of South Carolina and University of Nebraska - Lincoln, which ended up with a total cost of around 6k a year after awards. We are also in NJ, so hoping there is still something coming for us, based on your info. D has 34 ACT, 4.0 and over 500 hours community service, athletics, etc. and has had to deal with a major medical issue this year, but still maintained a 96 average first semester. So Iā€™m hoping all these will compel OAFA to give her a little bit more scholarship money. Thanks for your input. Wish her luck!

On a different noteā€¦is anyone going to the Honors Day next Friday, April 6?

So great how as the colleges use their tricks and configuations, we learn to help our kids by going through the backdoor for more aid. No wonder the kids are applying to more and more schools - because they need to! Because families need them to so that aid offers can be compared to squeeze more from a school in an objective way.

Glad to read about this good news instead of reading about waitlists!!! Hahaha

@Winky1 yes today was brutal on the Ivy Day front. How did your kiddo fare?

We used Fordham and Temple for comparison - both full tuition offers. We did not receive any email or letter notification - the number on the portal just got bigger!

@GertrudeMcFuzz that must have been a great feeling! Hoping for the same here. The email my D got when she submitted CA said ā€œby March 31ā€ so Iā€™m holding out hope for a few more days.

@JMRome , WL at Cornell, and Georgetown earlier this week. Case Western Reserve WL was last week. Yours?

Not feeling confident for my daughter. Pitt has been her love, visited three times since July but no bump on cost. 34 ACT, good essays, Chancellorā€™s nominee, lots of EC. Oh well. And we move on and hope for some outside scholarships. Congratulations to those awarded!

@Winky1 Denied USC, JHU and Princeton in the past week or so. Got into UCLA and UCSD but no money. Canā€™t do 250k out of pocket for 4 years. Two more to hear from this weekā€¦Stanford and CMU. She had a really good interview for Stanford so if that Hail Mary is successful that would be amazing! She wasnā€™t holding out any hope for Stanford but after her interview she was really feeling positive. Are you waiting for any more?

No, am thankful she was accepted to Pitt and BU with $. Pitt is definitely a top contender and has been. H2P  Best of luck

Pitt is her top right now tooā€¦unless of course Stanford comes through. She loves CMUā€¦did a summer program thereā€¦but I honestly believe Pitt would be better for pre-med.

We got snail mail yesterday. My D not get any additional money. It stays at 20,000 per year. We are OOS. 1540 SAT, 4.67 GPA and 10 APs. We used instate award for cost analysis. @carachel2 seems to right. Pitt doesnā€™t seem to consider instate awards for comparison. But we are very happy with the original award.

D is going to commit to Pitt. It has been her top choice from the beginning but wanted wait to know her BSMD results from other universities.

@bsms2018 We got the letter todayā€¦havenā€™t opened it as it is addressed to my D. Not expecting anything at this point. Would have loved 20kā€¦she got 15k. Also OOS.
Wish she would get just one piece of good news this week. Itā€™s been a rough one.

@JMRome , my best wishes to your D. I hope she gets some additional award.
