Urgent Early Decision Financial Aid Question

I applied ED on November 1st. Then last night I got an email with a link to the Financial Aid Website. I clicked on the link and read the check list (Financial Aid Checklist - Prospective Undergraduate U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents) that indicates that the financial aid deadline was November 1 too! But the problem is that the Penn Financial Aid Supplement can ONLY be done through MyPenn Application Portal. Since I just applied 8 days ago, I have not yet received a MyPenn Applicaiton Portal account!

What can I do? I don't qualify for waived tuition, but my family still NEEDS whatever financial aid we can get! Any help would be awesome, thanks.

Just get rolling immediately. You will get consideration. You are still earlier than the vast majority of kids who are applying RD. You may not get your estimated package until after ED acceptance if you are indeed accepted. It is just an estimate as your family's 2008 figures are not yet final and you cannot apply for FAFSA which is also required for the final package until Jan 1 2009.

You can mail or fax it in.

There was a supplement available on Penn's website and I mailed it in.

is it true that there's lower possibility of being accepted if u apply for financial aid? same thing happened with me (i got my mail yesterday but the deadline was nov 1...) and i heard my friend tell me about the lower possibility and now i'm thinking that i shouldnt apply for financial aid if thats the case..... does anyone know?

no its need blind

what does needblind exactly mean?

Need based Financial Aid for Prospective Undergraduate Students

"
To this end, Penn employs these policies for U.S., Canadian and Mexican citizens and permanent residents:
Need-Blind Admission
The Office of Admissions reviews applications for admission without regard to whether or not the student is applying for financial aid.
Penn Meets Full Need
Penn meets 100% of a student's demonstrated financial need."

a simple google search would have done it

Unless you're international, and not Canadian, Mexican, or American, then yes - it is detrimental to your possibility of admittance only because if they do not have the funds for you, they will reject you, even if you were perfect for the school.

since I'm Canadian, I wouldnt need to worry about lower possibility of admittance?

thanks guys, i guess i'll just send my stuff in the mail and hope they accept it even though it'll be over a week past the deadline

kerorii, you wouldn't have to worry about it either way because upenn is needblind

^
Only to Canadians, Americans, and Mexicans.

thank you!! i got my application for finanaid all done :)
