Some people told me that everybody who is going to ucsd must mail in this FAFSA Dependency Form to the school by May first. But I have always thought that only selected applicants need to turn in these extra forms. My tritonlink never requested anything like this and I did not receive any notification whatsoever from UCSD about this though. So do I need to do the form or not??? If I do, where can I find this form???

Log onto TritonLink and view your preliminary financial award package page. On the right, there should be a table called application completion deadline. If the table doesn’t mention anything about turning in a verification form, you do not need to turn the form in. The verification is mainly for people receiving the blue and gold opportunity plan (low efc).

There is no such thing as FAFSA Dependency Form.
If you’re not asked to submit tax returns and verification worksheet, you don’t have to do anything.
Chill.

what is the range for low EFC?

I believe the range for Pell Grant is below 5000, though that is a guess based on specific personal experiences. I’d say above that is pretty high.

And if anyone is worried about dependency/verification forms, call the financial aid office immediately! Better to have the peace of mind that you’re good than realize you aren’t later on.

You don’t have to call the financial aid office. Just check your financial aid preliminary notice online, and if the .pdf file is there, fill it out and fax it in along with your taxes.

And whoever told you that everyone has to fill out the verification form is incorrect.
Right at the top of the form, it says, “Your file has been selected for a review in a process called ‘Verification.’” Sigh. I would know this, because the form’s sitting on my desk waiting to be faxed :.

I’m 100% positive that UCSD only selects students who are receiving a large amount of financial aid, because all they want to do is double check that someone hasn’t lied on their FAFSA.

did anyone else get a dependency form that DIDNT have these “new” barcodes on the top? The first time I went to print them (two weeks ago) they were there, but ive had crazy stuff going on/broken printer and now if I go to print, there is only a form without the specific barcode

ok so it’s may 2nd now…too late to turn it in? i had never seen this…and i don’t really see a link on my checklist…but i see it on the actual awards page. am i screwed?

A lot of people ran into this problem last year. No, it’s not too late (people didn’t find out about it until the end of May last year lol).

Anyway, just send your forms in right now and you’ll be fine. Do the verification stuff, get everything signed, etc.

Woah, I don’t have a low EFC. In fact it’s about 27947 and I had to send in one of these. I’m only getting loans, no grants or anything…

On my awards page, it literally says my financial stuff is complete until further notice through email, or something like that. So…I’m assuming I don’t have to do that form (I don’t even see a link to it on my tritonlink) unless someone says otherwise.

^ Yes, you are fine. Mine only said that after I filled in my stuff.

And I found it suspicious that the only year so far I have had to do verification stuff is the year my EFC was cut in 1/2…

I believe it is 30% of the fafsa applicants and supposedly random

I don’t think it’s random. It’s always when it’s either too high or too low. I called today and they said the deadline was extended. It was due yesterday, but they received about 7000 faxes lol

OMG i just found out about this today… crapppppp
did people who miss priority funding deadline get their aids deducted as a consequence?

I found out a couple days ago that I had to send in a selective service verification form. I thought only guys had to sign up for the selective service. How come they’re asking me to submit this even though I’m a girl? Does anyone know if this would have an impact on my financial aid package? I have all the other required information turned in at this point.
