ok here's the deal I just took the MathII and Chem SAT subject tests this weekend. I think I did well on the chem (probly an 800) but i made some stupid mistakes on the mathII. I missed probably at least 7 questions which would put my score in the 740+ range. however i got a 35 on the act math section and have gotten a's in all of my math classes. i also got a 5 on the ap calculus exam. now here's the problem the school i want to apply to early STRONGLY RECOMMENDS taking 2 sat subject tests. My question is do I cancel both my scores and not have the sat subject tests on my application or just live with my bad mathII score?

dude how is a 740+ bad..i think that a 750 if you get that shows the same amount of proficiency as a 770,780 and so on

bad is a relative term, it's not bad for some schools but for the upper echelon schools it's probably average or slighly below.

Look at the flip side .. sure a 740+ isn't a GREAT score (i.e. not the best score you can get) but I don't think that the 740 will be a reason to reject you. I would definitely keep them. Even if your Math IIC comes out to be mid 700s it'd seem foolish to cancel them right now, especially when the school you're applying to strongly recommends 2 SAT IIs

IMO Act math and SAT II math II are not related at all. I got 35, 36, 35 on ACT math the three times I took it, but I never broke 700 on SAT II math II.

send it. 740 is a very good score, and even if it is below average for the schools youre looking at, a mediocre score is better than no score at all. but i dont think a 740 is mediocre at all.

A 740 on math 2 isn't necessarily that good for the top schools, but it would just be plain stupid to cancel your scores because of that; I doubt you would get rejected over a 740, especially with the rest of your scores looking excellent.
