URGENT: Whoops

Okay, well I just sent in my enrollment to UM that came with a 20k per year sship. However, last night, I made a huge mistake. I was caught in the possession of alcohol underage at a school function. I recieved two misdemeanor charges, but I am a minor. What's going to happen now?

i heard misdemeanor charges don't need to be reported, but i'm really not sure.

lol...wow...that was a **** up. I think you'll be fine, as long as you don't get yourself into a felony you are solid. Make sure if you are filling out any future forms to tell the truth though; if they ask if you have any misdemeanr charges on anything (job app for instance) you have to disclose.

Try to be a bit more judicious in the future.

KB

heheh judicious = don't get caught next time

lol...interpret as you will. But PLEASE don't get caught drinking during orientation...they'll send you home, and then you have to come back to do orientation a 2nd time. Trust me...as fun as orientation was, you only want to do it once.

KB

That's funny...my friend was recently caught with another substance (hmm....). I'm assuming they'll sentence you to a probationary period. That's what they did for him, and all it requires is he comes in once a month for a year and take random drug tests. After a year the offense will be expunged from his record.

I wonder how it would work, though, since he's going away to school yet has to come in for random drug tests...

MIP is just a ticket as far as I know. Plenty of people at my school get them. I'd say just don't get caught again.

Yeah, it looks like my records going to be clear with the police after I do some community service, do some course, and go on probation. However, my school found it about it and I'm getting a ten day suspension. Will I need to report this to UM?

hmmm....I'd say probably not.

How confident are you?

lol...well....I never got a 10 day suspension in high school so I wouldn't know. But if you've already enrolled, I don't see how it would matter...or why UM would care.

Well, I don't think UM will care (do I have to send in a final transcript)? But I do think the LSA scholarship committee will care.

No...Doug Fletcher won't care. The only req. for maintaining your scholarship is a 3.5 and full time status. I wouldn't worry about it.

KB

Yeah!!! Are you serious, like do you know this guy or something?

Haha...smooth move man. Personally i dont think they should care because you have obviously worked hard in high school and you were just celebrating. Dont get caught again lol.

Yeah, it was stupid. A girl and I were just trying to buy a case of beer. We bought it and then somebody told on us. However, the bad part was that I decided to run (the second misdemeanor) and she tried committing suicide. Oh, and it happened at a quiz bowl competition and our coach is like the anti-drug/alcohol coordinator for the county.
If you want some more specifics, feel free to pm me.

For being so smart, Michigan students can be pretty dumb sometimes.

Oh, come on. Everybody at UM has drank underaged at some point. I know it was stupid to run, but it was just like a fight or flight response. I didn't even think about it. The details are pretty interesting if you want to pm me.

raises hand I haven't had any alcohol. So I guess you're wrong about that one. Breaking the law tends to be a bad idea in general. But as my other posts indicate, I'm quite fond of the root beer.

Being an incomming frosh i am proud to say i have yet to either...well i guess proud is the wrong word....its just what it is...
