How will the ELITE schools view this.
GPA: 3.6 9-11(currently 11th grade) 4.0(10-11)
SAT:2300
AP: 9, six 5's three 4's. ALL SELF STUDIED...NO CLASSES
400+ community service hours
Race/Income: Black 31k
Ghetto high school in inner city NYC. Everyone goes to community college or dropout.
The reason why my gpa is 3.6 is because I failed a few marking periods during 9th grade and failed spanish and health that year. Had to retake and got A+ in each the following year.
How will the TOP of the TOP colleges see this? When I say this, I mean,
*Wharton
Harvard
*Princeton
*Dartmouth
*Stanford
*Columbia
Duke
Yale
MIT
Brown
Cornell
NYU
UMich
*really interested in schools and are top choices
What are my chances at EACH of these schools? What schools would I be competitive at? I'd appreciate a chance for every school especially the ones with the *. Thanks everyone

Basically, everything’s good, plus you’re black. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get into those places.

I think you’ll get in wherever you want to go.

You’re black. You’re in. Send me a postcard.

Thanks, I appreciate your input. Anyone else?

Will you send me a postcard?

sure if im graduating in Wharton or Princeton’s class of '16 and get an offer from goldman sachs to be a banker

black + high SATs= in everywhere

extremely impressive.
the question is: is that what you got on the SATs, or what you assume you will get?

^ Good question. In Jan, the same stat’s seemed like “what if’s.”

They don’t look at frosh GPA. That’s a good bet.

bump. anyone else? Those are my stats. I studied my @$$ off and got it.

bump anyone else?

Princeton and stanford dont consider your freshman year but do look at them. Although people seem to be blowing you off saying you are in just because you are black, I consider your performance really impressive if you self studied for 9 APs and scored a 5 in six of them. That is a true accomplishment no one can ignore. I do have a question though - How did you finish 9 APs in 10th grade or did you take a bunch this year and predicting a grade for them?

Use questbridge for a match with some of these schools without trying to match with an ED school.

Did either of your parents attend college? At 31k, I dont see that as a possibility but just asking. That would also give you a first gen status if I am correct.

took a few this year, they were so easy, I know I got a 5 on them. My mom makes 31k, she got her GED and did like 1 semester in college like a year ago(SHES 50) and my dad is retired but he lives in Arizona and havent lived with me for 10 years

OP, are you a rising senior, or just finishing your freshman year, as a previous thread suggests?

That thread indicates you have just finished freshman year. Either way, keep up the upward trend.

Unbelievable profile. In where you want to go.

bump. @2012 mom, im really a junior about to become a senior this coming fall. I was ■■■■■■■■ by making that thread. Just wanted to see what others would say IF I changed my age. Im a junior

you have excellent chances at all these schools, but i would balance out the number of extremely selective schools you are applying to with a few that are more match/safety types. you seem to be going for all the most elite colleges in the US, but you should look and see which ones will be a better fit for your personality and lifestyle.
the thing is, a lot of these schools are reaches for everyone, since most have a 10% or less rate of admission. when only 1 out of 10 applicants are getting in, you need to diversify the pool you are applying to. I’m sure you will get into some of these schools, but why waste your time applying to a bunch that you aren’t even interested in?

MIT is not your top choice?

Don’t apply they won’t take you :P
