thanks a lot

UROP, from what I have gathered, is a really cool experience if you wanna do research. I am an entering freshman and I just got my acceptance letter a couple days ago. You spend about 6-10 hrs per week doing research in a feild you are interested in. I'm hoping to do biomedical science research. You can either use those hrs to #1 translate into academic credit or #2 get paid through work study (only if it was in your financial aid statement however). If you want, there is also a UROP residence hall I think. I didn't do that however

Applications to reserve a priority seat is by June 1st. They are available online at the website. Just type in UROP in the "ask us" section or maybe some1 else here will give the link.

It's cool stuff, I'm hoping to get a lot out of it next year

so what you're saying is that participation in UROP is a subsitute for some other work study job?

ooo, that i dont know lol, ask alexandre about that 1

Well umardarr, do you base your statements on UROP being a "really cool experience" on anything but the letters they send you? I mean, it sounded great from what I got in the mail too, but of coruse they're going to do that, they want to promote their program. I'm interested in research, but before I enter into this, are there any people out there who have actually done it and can offer some feedback?

Dude, im not a spokesperson for UROP lol. Your right chibearsfan17, im basing it off the pamphlets and what not. But if your not gonna go through it just cause you dont know what its like, then i think thats pretty stupid don't ya think?

I'm basically making a prediction on what it will be like. I'm doin it cause i kinda need to do research in college in prep for med school so starting out this year will be a good way to go.

BUT, I will try to find some reviews for ya :)

I did Urop last year...my project was pretty awesome but I had significant research experience before so I knew what I was doing, but alot of people I knew just basically did b*tchwork and didn't like their projects. The course part however sucks. You have meetings twice a month from 6:30-8:00 on wednesdays that are a pain in the a$$, and you have to go to pointless seminars and do journal entries. It is an easy A (gpa booster), but I am not doing it next year-I'm still doing research though

ooo thats interesting, but theres no other research besides UROP for fresh are there?...

ehh w/e, i dont care what u guys say, im doin it n e ways lol. Good experience regardless cause i need to start somewhere. It would be stupid to not do it when u NEED to do research and start soph/jun yr doin *****work

yeah if you want to do research and you are just starting then def. do urop-im just saying that you shouldn't expect to be doing cutting edge amazing work at first because you will need to learn the techniques and understand the theory
