Deadlines differ by congressional offices. The only way to get any sort of meaningful information is to call your district’s office.

Re recs, yes–each office reviews their own applications; there is no “central” review board.

I’m sure the fall deadline should be coming up soon for most offices. If I remember correctly, my senator’s deadline was April 30th.

When I applied, I just sent my two letters of rec. along with the rest of my application.

wow ok,
i called a few offices last week and they pretty much all said they didnt know if they could sponsor a fall page.

All of the congressmen in my state are unable to sponsor for the summer session, and I now have to apple for the summer senate term :/

@tylrrvera why is that a bad thing?

Hi! I know this is late, but…

What should I include on the resume? My senator requests one.

Include details of your personal, academic, and work experiences. Include clubs, sports, etc… Mention any academic awards. Also, indicate any previous work experiences.

To whomever asked why the Senate program is bad–Neither program is bad, however, the House program is better. However, if you are applying for a summer term, they are equally is good.

@motocrosser21

Thanks for the speedy response! I’m concerned about several things in particular:

*Given that I am sending a transcript, would it be superfluous to note GPA/Class rank on the resume (since they’re both notably well)

*Do I give personal contact information? I’m including a cover letter (also requested), and I’m not sure how long that should be either. Is there some kind of cookie cutter method? I assume it must be short and sweet, since there’s a large volume of applications.

Sorry! I’m new to this, haha.

*Your choice.
*Usually on a resume, yes to contact info (unless they only want an activities resume, but I don’t think that is the case here). An example can be found here; more here. Cover letters should be one page total (so the actual “letter” part will end up being ~2/3 of the page. See a guide here and an example here.

Can I still apply now?

You’ll have to call your local congressperson’s office–each representative has their own deadlines.

Has anyone applied for a Congressional Page Program (not Senate)session for Summer 2011 yet? Has anyone heard anything from their Congress member about it yet?

Sorry, one more nagging question:

Would it be wise to include test scores, even though they’re not specifically asked for? I don’t think I should–as it’s superfluous and pretentious–but people have told me to do so. (They are pretty good)

@ Somestudent2 I think if you scored especially well on any tests, you could include that. Maybe you could just state that you scored in the 95 percentile for it, or something like that. Also, I think you SHOULD include your GPA/Class rank.

Does anyone know (even if it’s a broad generalization) when the two summer sessions are?

Yes, include any good test scores on your resume (no need to send them copies of the score sheets, though, if they didn’t request them).

As for dates, I swear I’ve seen them written online before, but I can’t seem to find where. It might be hidden somewhere on the page program website or in this long CC thread.

Let me know if you ever find the dates! Whether on here or a PM. I thought I saw them somewhere too, although I might be thinking of the application due dates.

Waiting for a response is really bugging me! Applying for camps and jobs is impossible without knowing if I’m going to be in D.C. for a month! How long should I wait?

No, i wasnt saying the Senate program is bad, im saying it is unfortunate that none of the Washington state representatives are eligible, and I now only have one possible chance to be sponsored Hopefully, I am successful for the senate!!! I want this SOOOO bad!

I’m so happy I read this thread because I can now apply for the Senate program! I don’t think my congressman’s office will ever reply back to me so I’m looking at the Senate program.

For the Senate program, should I apply to both senators from my state or just one? And if just one, how do I pick which one?

Did you call them? Emailing never gets stuff done in life.

Well, first make sure at least one has a spot still available. Go with the one whose office you think will be more interesting, or the one whose party you align yourself with (if they’re of different parties).

^ Yep, called them numerous times already… they just say that they don’t know if they can send a page. :(

The senators are of the same party.
