If both senators are still willing to take applications, just pick the one you like most. If you aren’t sure, here are some easy ways to pick one:
*The one with the cooler name
*The one with the better campaign ads (check YouTube)
*The one that makes more money (check [here](http://www.legistorm.com/browse_by_senator.html))
*The one with the nicer person answering the phone when you call their office

:)

As funny as Chaseholl’s last post sounds (The one with the nicer person answering the phone when you call their office) it is absolutely true. The people staffing his/her office will be your home away from home at work. You will enjoy yourself so much more if they have a nice staff, which usually reflects strongly upon the character of the Senator. Plus, you will get cooler perks, like being able to go on dome tours, eat with your senator, and I have even heard of trips to the white house (luau, tour).

OMG.
I just saw this and I would love to apply.
I’m from Arizona, and will call all my Reps tomorrow.
In case that this program doesn’t work out, (I heard that there are only 30 pages at a time), is there a corresponding program in the Senate?
And I would love any information any ex-Pages have regarding the program/experience, the application process, and what kinds of things the candidate has to be involved in. (Like Stuco, leadership positions, etc.)

Hi guys, just want to clear some things up here since there’s alot of contradictory information…

To be honest, the majority of Congressmen do not particularly care to allocate alot of their time to the page program, nor do their staff. Therefore, do not feel pressured into having every little piece of your application perfected as if it were being sent to the Harvard Admissions Board… (trust me, I know this because I got in and my app. was far from perfect). The biggest factor IMO is your essays and recommendations. Also, leadership is realllllllllllly important. Grades are grades, as long as they meet the minimum of a 3.0, it’s not that big of a factor here… again, this is not Harvard, it’s Congress, who does not have the time to spend on reviewing page applicants.

Moreover, don’t panic with deadlines… As I’ve said before, they move very slowly with everything…

For people who were asking about summer deadlines, they have not yet come, and most Congressmen do not even know if they can sponsor a page yet, so do not feel rush. From inside sources, I suspect the applications to be distributed in the next 2 weeks… Keep in mind, I’m talking about House Pages, as the Senate program is COMPLETELY different and I think their deadline already passed. Things are hectic in the house, and the office of the clerk is busy with the far more important duty of acting as an aid to legislatures than putting together a high school student’s application packet:)

And for the person who asked about the fall program deadlines, focus on your school work and enjoy your summer because the deadline won’t be until mid July at least :)

Most important to remember: the page program is generally not a chief priority in congressional offices so don’t be overbearring when contacting them and just let the process move along as slow as the Speaker’s Office so desires:)!!!

let me know if you have any other questions!

I sent in my application materials for the Senate program to my Senator’s office today! The deadline hasn’t passed, because my contact says that many senators ALSO do not know yet, whether they are eligible to sponsor student applicants for the summer of 2011! Here’s to hoping for the best.

Apparently my Congressman doesn’t know about funding yet.
I hope he acquires some!

bump…lets keep this thread alive

The House program can accomidate around 70 pages (2/3 majority party)

The Senate program has about 30 spots, so I have heard.

does anyone know when we will hear back from senator/representative?

well it depends on the program, senate or house…

if it’s the senate, then it’ll be most likely in the next few weeks… (talking about the summer right?)

if it’s the house, don’t expect it to be for awhile as the application process for the summer program has not even begun yet!!

thanks stocker, I was wondering the same thing. Should I call around May just to check in?

Yeah I would call your congressman’s district office in 2 weeks or so. You’re talking about the summer session right?

yep! Minnesota senate page. Hopefully…

so you are guys applying to both your senator and representative or just one? Is it possible to apply to both?

Can you apply as a high school rising sophomore?
Is this only for college students or can high school students apply?

You need to be at least 16 years of age and have at least a 3.0/4.0 GPA. Please see [the official site](http://pageprogram.house.gov/) for more info. Because it’s like on the front page.

Okay. Today I received notice from my local representative’s office that he had a nomination and was choosing me. Does this mean I’m guaranteed a spot? The email I received clearly stated that I will be a page, but the application is ambiguous.

OMG lucky barbieprincess! So jealous! :)

Ugh, my Senator’s office isnt responding to my emails! Should I call?

Yes, I think this means you will be a page.

Should never have emailed in the first place. Emailing almost never works for any real-life thing; considering they are busy politicians, it may take a month for someone to get back to you via email. Phone means you get an immediate answer.
