USA June 2011 SAT: MATHEMATICS Discussion Thread

Could someone explain to me how missing grid-ins affects your score? I missed like 2-3.

What was the trapezoid question? I really don’t remember anything about a trapezoid.

Was the one with the function flipped over the x axis (#19 I think) -3?
That’s what I got… any1 else?

Missing a grid-in is just -1 from a perfect score, rather than the normal -1.25.

there is no penalty for grid-ins so you don’t get -.25
you just don’t get the 2-3 points that you missed.

ya i had that one… i think i got 40

does anyone remember what they got for number 16 in gridin because I remember I got the answer - 15 for number 15 lol

Sorry if you guys talked about this already, I just skipped to the end.

Was the math question about the colors for computer backgrounds/drawing tools experimental (aka people who DIDN’T have math experimental, did you have this problem?)

Please say no. Please.

how about the one with find RS…the triangle in the circles one??

^ two circles? 4

@kunalkunal:
The question said ANY two sides. That means I could pick ANY two sides of the triangle you give me, and they would equal to twice the third one. So you give me a 6,4,5 triangle and I decide to pick (I get to pick ANY remember) the 4 and 5. That equals 9 which is NOT twice 6. So that triangle fails.
Ok, so what if there are others that aren’t equilateral? There aren’t. Check out this math:
where x, y, and z are the sides of a triangle.
SYSTEM OF EQUATIONS: x+y=2z, x+z=2y, and y+z=2x

x+y=2z –> x=2z-y substitute
x+z=2y –> 2z-y+z=2y –> 3z=3y –> z=y subsitute
y+z=2x –> z+z=2x –> 2z=2x –> z=x AND
–> y+y=2x –> 2y=2x –> y=x

Therefore, x=y=z
Therefore, the triangle must be equilateral.

Please answer my question above!!! I’m freaking out!

I had experimental and I don’t remember that question (computer colors). Is there more than 1 experimental math?

graceee, I didn’t have that question, which means it was experimental.

Edit: Yeah, I had experimental math too, but not that question, so there has to be more than one.

this post was horrible, i got them all right but everyone needs to chill with hating on skorpius, hes just trying to see how he did like everyone else here

Maybe. It was like: 16 colors for the background of the computer and 8 colors for the drawing tool, how many combinations if the background + drawing can’t be the same color.

@graceee i didn’t have that one

I definitely didn’t have that computer question. My experimental had Crazy Hat Day and car A and car B (at least I think those were both from the same section).

If anyone has a question and they have be hearing different answers post and aks me i will explain each answer. im pretty sure i got 800

does anyone remember 16) the grid in question after 15)15

THANK YOU MOTHER OF JESUS

I love you all.
